    摘要: A miniature flashlight consists of a housing, a light emitting diode (LED), a pair of batteries, and a flexible cover and a contact clip that acts as a switch. The LED has a head portion and two contact arms. One of the contact arms is shorter than the other and is displaced at a slight angle relative to the longer contact arm. The LED is received in a seat formed in the housing with the head portion of the diode received in an aperture in the side wall of the housing. The longer contact arm is captured in a channel formed in the bottom wall. The shorter contact arm rests on a shoulder that forms part of the LED seat. A pair of coin cell batteries are received within another seat formed in housing. The lower battery sits on top of the longer contact arm captured in the channel of the bottom wall. A resilient plastic cover is assembled with the housing to maintain the diode and the batteries within the housing.

    摘要: The present invention provides a lighting head assembly that incorporates a high intensity LED package into an integral housing for further incorporation into other useful lighting devices. The present invention provides for the LED to be installed onto a circuit board that also includes a clad layer formed thereon that acts as a spreader plate. When the circuit board is in mated relation with a thermally conductive reflector cup, the clad heat spreader serves to conduct heat from the led into the reflector cup. In this manner, high intensity LED packages can be incorporated into lighting assemblies through the use of the present invention by simply installing the present invention into a housing and providing power connections thereto.

    摘要: The present invention includes a new dome contact construction having an integral insulative layer that is precisely cut and aligned with the dome contact mechanism during fabrication. Prior to feeding the metal sheets or strips into the equipment for stamping and cutting the dome contact using the conventional method, a die cut layer of film is applied to one side of the sheet or strip. The film is cut into the shape of the desired insulative layer in the finished switch product and has periodic openings that correspond to the areas of the dome contact that are required to be uncovered both to provide electrical conductivity as a part of the proper function of the switch. The sheet of metal, including the laminate film, is cooled to a temperature near freezing to facilitate clean stamping of the laminated feedstock during the stamping process and is then fed into the forming and cutting press where the domes are formed and stamped.

    摘要: A combination tool construction is provided that combines a high intensity flashlight and a standard, popular sized pocketknife. The handle portion of the flashlight housing is constructed to slideably receive a standard pocket type knife. The housing has a channel molded into its wall with the top of the channel being open, allowing the side of the pocketknife to be visible when received in the channel on the flashlight. This allows the user to verify that the knife is in place. At the rear of the flashlight is a small closure device that is pivotally mounted to the rear of the flashlight. The closure device pivots into place flush with the bottom of the flashlight to retain the pocketknife once it is fully inserted into the channel in the flashlight.

    摘要: A novel construction for a flashlight including a multifunctional rotary switching device is provided. The body of the switch includes an array of magnetic field effect sensors arranged on a base switch component such as a printed circuit board switching substrate. Each of the sensors is connected via circuit traces with a central logic chip also mounted on the circuit board. At least one magnet is installed into a rotatable actuator in proximity to the surface of the sensors whereby the magnetic field generated by the magnet causes the corresponding sensors to switch to an open position when at least one magnet is in their proximity. In this position, the logic chip can detect which of the sensors are open and execute a set of pre-programmed instructions corresponding to the sequence of open sensors.

    摘要: The present invention provides an optical lens for coupling the light output from a high intensity light source, such as an LED, with a light conduit. The optical lens captures, homogenizes and transmits substantially all of the light emitted the light source to a point of convergence that is centrally located on the output face of the optical lens. The present invention transmits upwards of 85% of the light emitted by the light source and produces a uniformly illuminated circular focal point that is easily discharged into the terminal end of an optical conduit such as an optical fiber of light pipe. Optionally the lens may be formed to include structure that serves to receive and retain the terminal end of the optical conduit.

The present invention primarily includes two housing components, namely an inner mounting die and an outer enclosure.     摘要: An assembly is provided that allows construction of a watch that includes multifunctional illumination options. The assembly of the present invention provides a means for illuminating the watch face, a high intensity flashlight and a watch locator beacon. The assembly overcomes the drawbacks associated with filament lamps by using LED lamps that provide greater brightness with less power consumption. Further, the present invention relies on a unique feature of LED's, whereby they are only illuminated by DC power at the right polarity to provide a compact assembly that utilized a minimum amount of space.

    摘要: A novel construction for a multifunctional rotary switching device is provided. The body of the switch includes a radial array of switching contact arms, each arm being connected at one end to a central hub. The switch is preferably stamped from a thin sheet of flexible metallic material having magnetic characteristics. The switch is then installed onto a printed circuit board switching substrate with the central hub of the switch being rigidly connected to the switching substrate with the contact arms in a normally closed state. A magnet is installed into a rotatable actuator in close proximity to the surface of the switch whereby the magnetic force of the lifts the contact arm of the switch over which the magnet is aligned. In this position, the magnet opens the corresponding contact arm of the switch.
