摘要： A selective call control center is provided for transmission of calls to selective call receivers, such as paging receivers. In a first aspect, priorities are assigned to call sources and to call receivers and the order of transmission of calls is determined by the control center as a function of the priorities of the source and the receiver for each call. In a second aspect, at least one call receiver is provided having at least two addresses and the address to be selected from the at least two addresses for calling that receiver is determined dependent on the priority of the source of the call.

摘要： Calls entered into a paging system are processed by a controller which identifies the call source from which the call originates, and from a table of predetermined call sources the controller generates a source tag identifying the call source. The source tag is transmitted together with any caller generated message to a paging receiver. The paging receiver, upon receiving the source tag, selects a predetermined message from a table of predetermined messages, and displays the predetermined message stored within and displays the predetermined message together with the caller generated message. The tables of predetermined call sources and predetermined messages are definable by the paging receiver user.

The signal includes an identification code (402) and another code which represents when the communication unit was authorized to access the communication system (410). The base site (300) operates to process the identification code (402) to initially determine that the communication unit (200) should not be permitted access to the communication system (100). Additionally, the other code (410) is processed to determine whether the communication unit (200) was authorized to access the communication system (100) within a time interval. If so, the communication unit (200) is permitted to access the communication system.

摘要： A central controller operating as a pager terminal for receiving, handling, and transmitting messages is shown that adaptively alters its message handling characteristics in order to improve the overall throughput of the central controller. The channel loading characteristics, based upon the time of day, are used in order to vary the limitation of the size of message received by the central controller as well as vary the transmission size and age of messages prior to transmission. Additionally, channel loading may be determined by determining the total size of messages within the central controller. In response to the total size determination, the limitation of the message size received by the controller may be varied. Furthermore, the transmission size and age of messages prior to transmission may be varied in response to the total size determination. The central controller may also adopt these operations in response to the combination of the total size determination and channel loading based upon the time of day characteristics.

摘要： An improved simulcast transmission system having automatic synchronization is disclosed which utilizes a signal from any one of a number of readily available master timing sources to maintain a constant, uniform time delay to a multiplicity of transmitters even though the time delay corresponding to an included individual interconnect link is susceptible to variation. This simulcast system includes a central controller for controlling, via an interconnect link, the operation of each transmitter located at a plurality of base station sites. This central controller includes a master timing signal receiver and periodically outputs a resynchronization command via the interconnect link to the base stations. Each interconnect link may consist of a phone line or other radio link which exhibits a relatively fixed, but unstable, delay. Each base station includes at least a transmitter and an adaptive-delay device which operates as a remotely-adjustable delay network upon receipt of a resync signal from the central controller to readjust and automatically maintain a uniform amount of time delay to each transmitter in the base stations. A master timing signal receiver such as a suitable radio navigation receiver is coupled to a suitable fixed delay network and provides the reference sync signal for each remotely-sited base station throughout the designated geographical area. This simulcast system is therefore cable to compensate for varying amounts of delay caused by utilizing alternate links which may be necessary to maintain system reliability while overcoming inclement weather, interference, or other equipment difficulties.

One or more of the transceiver stations (12, 14, 16, 18) is further capable of storing a data base and of transmitting the same in response to a request for such transmission being received from a portable radiotelephone (20, 22, or 24) communicating therewith. The portable radiotelephone (20, 22, or 24) communicating therewith is capable thereafter of receiving the data base and of presenting at least a portion of the same to the radiotelephone subscriber.
