摘要： The process of preparing higher aluminum alkyls by olefin chain growth on alkyl aluminum is improved by using on-line flow-through calorimetry to determine the aluminum concentration of a process stream, such as the aluminum alkyl feed stream, by reacting a sample portion of the process stream with a molar excess of alcohol and measuring the change in temperature. The aluminum concentration of the stream can then be adjusted as required to maintain it within a selected range.

摘要： A reactor having a heated liner for producing silicon by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and means for supplying a gas stream in the turbulent flow region. A gas stream including a silicon-containing compound is passed through a deposition chamber at turbulent flow rates for deposition of silicon on a non-reactive substrate liner heated above the decomposition temperature of the silicon-containing compound. Optionally, the liner is removable from the reactor for separation of deposited metal. Also optionally, the temperature of the liner in situ may be raised above the melting point of the deposited metal for melt out and recovery.

摘要： Contaminants in spent nitric-sulfuric nitration acid can be removed by mixing the spent acid with urea and heating to 75.degree.-150.degree. C. Off-gas from the spent acid/urea reaction is passed through a Group IB, VB, VIB or VIII metal containing catalyst to decompose nitrous oxides and the so-treated off-gas is contacted with spent acid, denitrated spent acid, or fresh sulfuric acid, and optionally air (i.e. oxygen), to absorb oxides of nitrogen. The spent acid scrubbing fluid is then subjected to the same process for removing contaminants.
