    摘要: This invention relates to flame retardants for polyester and polyamide compositions, and specifically relates to compositions containing (1) about 30 to about 70 weight percent of a polyester or a synthetic, aliphatic polyamide and synthetic aliphatic, aromatic polyamide copolymers or a mixture thereof; (2) about 15 to about 40 weight percent of glass or mineral reinforcing agent; and (3) a flame retardant of (a) about 5 to about 45 weight percent of melamine polyphosphate; (b) about 15 to about 30 weight percent of melamine polyphosphate and up to about 10 weight percent of a charring catalyst; (c) about 15 to about 30 weight percent of melamine polyphosphate, up to about 10 weight percent of a charring catalyst and up to about 10 weight percent of a char former, wherein all percents by weight are based on the total weight of (1)+(2)+(3) only.

    摘要: Ethyleneamine polyphosphates are doped with organo silanes and hydrophilic fumed metal oxides such as hydrophilic fumed silica. Such doped EAPPA can then be added to polymers, with subsequently formed FR polymer having improved resistance to becoming sticky in humid air. These compositions are inherently drip resistant in a flame. Substantial addition of hydrophilic fumed silica stops stickiness in air and improves FR as measured by LOI.

    摘要: An alternative to aqueous film forming foams containing fluorine for firefighting foams for flammable liquid fires is a mist of aqueous ethyleneamine polyphosphate solution or fumed silica doped ethyleneamine polyphosphate solution. The method consists of spraying a mist of such solutions into a flammable liquid fire to suppress the flames and cool the fire. The mist approach also suppresses flames of wood fires. An alternate approach is to add ethyleneamine polyphosphate or fumed silica doped ethyleneamine polyphosphate to a fluorine free foam to form a flame retarded foam that is able to smother a flammable liquid fire.

    摘要: Flame retardants, and compositions containing the flame retardants are disclosed. The flame retardants are prepared reacting ethylene diamine with polyphosphoric acid; or reacting an ethyleneamine or a mixture of ethyleneamines with phosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acid, pyrophosphoric acid, or a mixtures thereof. A 10% by weight solution of the product in water has a pH between about 3.5 to 6.5. The flame retardants are non-halogen containing flame retardants that do not gas undesirably during processing at temperatures of 235° C. or even higher.
