摘要: An irregularly shaped glass fiber is provided which enjoys improved resiliency, and openness in pack structures. Wool packs and other wool portions having such irregularly shaped fibers may be processed directly through needling to form a non-woven material without intervening steps such as carding or blending of fibers which accompany conventional glass fiber processing operations. In a further aspect of the invention, a non-woven material including irregularly shaped fibers in a generally continuous wool tow is produced by "unwinding" a fiberglass wool pack collected by a direct forming method. Product applications include simplified, lower cost processing, and new uses of the irregularly shaped fibers produced by rotary fiberization in filtration elements, sorbants, gaskets, packings, shingles, composite structural elements, furnishings, textiles, yarns, and blown-in insulation systems.

摘要: A blood sampling device having a valve between a chamber for receiving a limited quantity of fluid and a needle for penetrating a sample bottle. The valve comprises a rigid connector with a compressible tube extending along a beam and an arm extending across tube and the beam such that the tube can be compressed between the beam and the arm. A bottle adapter connected to the valve has an elongated or ovoid base. A needle is enclosed within the bottle adapter. Within the bottle adapter are longitudinally extending fins. A removable needle cap over the needle is held in place by a lid. Another bottle adapter has a wall deformable from a first configuration into a second configuration. The bottle adaptor may be removable and may have a slot such that the needle and the needle cap can be inserted into the bottle adaptor through the slot.

摘要: A process for making a fiberglass service body. The process includes first providing a mold body having a flange extending around an outside periphery of the mold body. Next, the mold body is coated with a gel-coat layer. At least one layer of fiberglass is then placed onto the mold over the gel-coat layer. The next step is to place a cover over the mold body to completely cover the fiberglass. Breather strips are then inserted around the outside periphery of the mold body, a plenum is placed onto the mold flange, and a vacuum is attached to the plenum. Once a resin is injected through the cover into the fiberglass, the fiberglass is cured under vacuum before the fiberglass service body is removed from the mold.

摘要: The subject invention provides a foamed article having random cell structures formed by a process comprising the steps of providing a resin component and an isocyanate component and providing a first nucleation gas and a second nucleation gas, both under low pressure. The first and the second nucleation gases are added into at least one of the resin component and the isocyanate component. The resin component and the isocyanate component are reacted to form the foamed article having a first cell structure resulting from the addition of the first nucleation gas and a second cell structure that is different than the first cell structure resulting from the addition of the second nucleation gas. The foamed article is particularly suited for replacing metal springs in an article of furniture while still maintaining the feel and comfort of the metal springs.
