摘要： An apparatus and related method for high speed offset ink jet printing are provided. Multiple print head modules form a full width ink image by ejecting ink drops onto an intermediate transfer surface on a rotating drum. One or more complete images are formed on the intermediate transfer surface in less than one revolution of the drum. The images are then transferred to a final receiving medium while additional images are simultaneously formed on the intermediate transfer surface as the drum continues to rotate. Two or more color component images may be overlayed to form a complete color image in less than one revolution of the drum. Additionally, the simultaneous imaging and image transfer allow the apparatus and method to print images having a length greater than the circumference of the drum.

摘要： An apparatus and related method for improved image fusing in an ink jet printing system are provided. An ink image is transferred to a final receiving substrate by passing the substrate through a transfer nip. The substrate and ink image are then passed through a fusing nip that fuses the ink image into the final receiving substrate. Utilizing separate image transfer and image fusing operations allows improved image fusing and faster print speeds. The secondary fusing operation enables the image transfer process to use reduced pressures, whereby the load on the drum and transfer roller is reduced. Additionally, the secondary fusing operation may be utilized to apply a supplemental coating to the transferred image.

Additionally, the invention encompasses a method of forming a colorant. A first compound having the formula, is reacted with a second compound having the formula Z(CH2)nCH3, wherein n is an integer that is at least 12, to form a third compound having the formula, wherein the third compound comprises a chromophore that absorbs light from the visible wavelength range.

摘要： A method of improving automatic document feed of media printed with phase change inks coats the surface of the phase change inks on the media with fine particles. The particles may include PMMA, glass bead, silica particles, crushed glass particles, kaolin clay, micronized PE and PTFE, calcium carbonate powder, hard inks or toner powder. The particles may be applied to the surface of a transfix drum by oil transfer or electrostatically prior to jetting the phase change ink, or in the case of hard inks may be jetted onto the surface of the transfix drum (offset) with the phase change ink or onto the print media (direct) after application of the phase change ink in an overprint printing process. Also the particles may be applied by a pair of finishing rollers after the media has been printed with the phase change inks, either in a direct or offset print process, the finishing roller on the print side being coated with the fine particles.
