    摘要: A phosphor blend for a compact fluorescent lamp is described wherein the phosphor blend comprises a green-emitting Tb3+ phosphor, a Y2O3:Eu3+ phosphor, a Sr6BP5O20:Eu2+ phosphor, a Mg4GeO5.5F:Mn4+ phosphor, and optionally a BaMgAl11O17:Eu2+ phosphor, wherein the blend contains from 1% to 20% by weight of the Sr6BP5O20:Eu2+hosphor and from 5% to 30% by weight of the Mg4GeO5.5F:Mn4+phosphor. A compact fluorescent lamp having a phosphor coating containing the phosphor blend produces a light that is perceived as more pleasing than the light produced by standard compact fluorescent lamps.

    摘要: A lamp assembly includes a reflector having a concave reflecting surface and an axis of rotation, and a light source including a filament mounted at or near a focal point of the reflecting surface. The filament has a length to diameter ratio of 6:1 or greater. The reflecting surface is formed as a multiplicity of reflecting facets. The facets on at least 50% of the reflecting surface have dimensions and curvatures selected to produce a light pattern wherein a ratio of filament width spread to filament length spread produced by the facets is at least 2:1. Preferably, the facets are arranged in axially adjacent rings. The facet rings can be successively offset in a rotational direction so as to reduce circumferential variations in the light pattern.

    摘要: A miniature, low-wattage fluorescent lamp includes a double-bore inner capillary tube having a pair of ends and a convoluted shape. The inner capillary tube is comprised of a vitreous material (e.g., quartz) which is capable of transmitting ultraviolet radiation. A pair of electrodes (e.g., mercury pool) is located at one end of the inner capillary tube and disposed within respective bores. An ionizable medium is enclosed within the inner capillary tube and includes an inert starting gas and a quantity of mercury. When energized, the ionizable medium generates an arc discharge between the electrodes consisting of ultraviolet radiation. A phosphor coating responsive to the ultraviolet radiation is disposed on an outer surface of the inner capillary tube and remote from the arc discharge. An outer jacket of vitreous material surrounds the inner capillary tube and contains an inert gas at a predetermined pressure.

    摘要: The present invention provides formulations and methods for isolating food-borne pathogens from a great variety of food matrices. Methods for isolating microorganisms from clinical and environmental specimens are also disclosed. The invention also concerns methods for rapid and efficient isolation of sufficiently pure DNA from small amounts of various pathogenic microorganisms, which then can be used, according to the methods of the instant invention, for selective identification of a live pathogenic microorganism present in a sample from which the microorganism was isolated. The methods of the instant invention are also useful for identification of new pathogenic microorganisms, diagnostics of food-borne illnesses, treatment of food-borne diseases and quality control of food items offered for sale to consumers.
