摘要: A method of determining new luminance value data based on original luminance value data to be displayed on a matrix display device, where the luminance value data are coded in sub-fields, the sub-fields including a group of most significant sub-fields and a group of least significant sub-fields, wherein a common value for the least significant sub-fields is determined for a set of lines. In the method, a number of sub-fields values are compensated for motion artefacts and at least one of the sub-fields in two or more lines is addressed simultaneously.

摘要: Various embodiments relate to an light-emitting diode (LED) driver and related method that drives various LEDs in an LED string beyond their isolated nominal luminance. Individual LEDs in an LED string may be thermally dependent so that specific LEDs may operate at higher temperatures without degradation. This may include driving specific LEDs beyond isolated nominal luminance when associated LEDs dim below their isolated nominal luminance. Such operation allows the LED to receive higher amounts of current and therefore exhibit higher luminous intensity. A control circuit may monitor the forward voltage and temperature in a feedback loop to ensure that the LEDs in the string are operating below a defined maximum junction temperature. The control circuit may signal a processing unit to adjust adjacent circuits to compensate when the controlled LEDs cannot produce a requested luminance without operating beyond a maximum junction temperature.

摘要: A method for processing color image data that enables to optimally render a color image on a target device. The method incorporates a color gamut mapping step, where the amount of gamut mapping is adapted dynamically, in dependence of at least a color saturation value of the input pixel. Preferably, also a luminance value of the input pixel is used. The adaptive gamut mapping incorporates correction of saturation, and preferably also hue and white point, of the image data. The color gamut of the target device is used to the fullest possible extent, while clipping and loss of local details in highly saturated areas of the input image is largely prevented.

摘要: The invention relates to a display driver comprising an embedded frame memory and an overdrive logic block for moderating display data of a current frame received by the display driver by means of overdrive. The overdrive logic block is arranged for reading data from and writing data to the embedded frame memory and for using display data of a previous image stored in the embedded frame memory for calculating overdrive display data of the current frame. The overdrive display data is used for refreshing the image depicted on a display device. The invention further relates to an LCD display device comprising such a display device.

摘要: A display method comprises the steps of generating (1) images comprising source data (SDA) and source frame synchronization instants (SSI) having a source frame rate (SFR). The source data (SDA) is stored (2) in a frame memory (5) under control of a first address pointer (AP I) having a start address (DSA) being determined by the source frame synchronization instants (SSI). During a read period (RP), display data (DDA) is read (2) from the memory (5) under control of a second address pointer (AP2) having a start address (SSA) being determined by display frame synchronization instants (DSI) having a display frame rate (DFR). The display data (DDA) is displayed (3) on a matrix display (4). The source frame rate (SIR) or the display frame rate (DFR) is controlled (2) to obtain, in a stable situation, the first address pointer (AP I) and the second address pointer (AP2) starting with an offset in time (TO) which has a fixed polarity during the read period (RP).

摘要: A display driver drives a display (101) having a backlight (105) and a transmittance panel (107) comprising transmittance elements modulating the light from the backlight (105). The driver receives time sequential frames to be displayed. A controller (115) generates backlight intensity values for the backlight and transmittance drive values for the transmittance elements for the time sequential frames in response to image data for the time sequential frames and a global relationship between image data values and backlight intensity values and transmittance drive values. The transmittance drive values comprise a desired transmittance component and an overdrive component. A compensator (117) introduces a locally adapted overdrive compensation value to the transmittance drive values to generate compensated transmittance drive values and the backlight (105) is driven accordance with the backlight intensity values and the transmittance panel (107) is driven in accordance with the compensated transmittance drives values. The adaption may e.g. be for temperature variations or timing variations.
