The supporting and guide elements of the housing consist of a supporting bearing (34) and a movable bearing (7). The supporting bearing (34) connects the housing (8) with the holder (6). The housing 8 is swivelable about the supporting bearing (34). The housing (8) takes support on the movable bearing (7) which comprises a pin (3) rigidly coupled directly to the wheel suspension (38). By coupling the movable bearing (7) directly to the wheel suspension and supporting the lining in a tangential direction directly on the entering side, maximum utilization of the radial space, an increase of the effective radius, and a reduction of the thermal load of the brake are achieved.

To accomplish favorable force distribution of the spring without impairing the function of the brake, the legs (34,36) of the spreading spring portion (30) are of different length, the ends of the resilient bracket (28) contain indentations (58,60) which provide contact points for abutment of the resilient bracket legs (54,56) on the respective retaining pins, and that indentations (58,60) are disposed on that side of the resilient bracket (28) which is close to the longer leg (36) of the spreading spring portion (30).

An object of the invention in a floating-caliper disc brake of this type is to achieve a design with reduced weight and, additionally, enhance the assembly and improve the function of the brake. This object is achieved in that the two outside brake pads are supported by arms of the brake support member that straddle the brake disc, and in that the floating caliper makes catch at the two outside brake pads simultaneously.
