Abstract:
Disclosed herein are new mixed metal oxide catalysts suitable as heterogeneous catalysts for catalyzing the transesterification process of aromatic alcohols with a dialkyl carbonate to form aromatic carbonates. The heterogeneous catalyst comprises a combination of two, three, four, or more oxides of Mo, V, Nb, Ce, Cu, Sn, or an element selected from Group IA or Group IIA of the periodic table.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for converting an alkyl halide to an olefin. The method can include contacting a zeolite catalyst having a chemical formula of My/nH(x-y)AlxSi(96-x)O192, where M is a metal cation having a valence of n under reaction conditions sufficient to produce an olefin hydrocarbon product comprising C2 to C4 olefins. M can include cations of metals from Groups IA, IIA, IIIA. IVB, VB, VIB VIIB, IB, IIB, IIIA or IVA, or any combination of metal cations thereof and y is 0.4≦y≦5.0.
