Abstract: An apparatus for estimating blood pressure may include: a photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor configured to measure a PPG signal from a user; and a processor configured to: extract a cardiovascular feature from the PPG signal; calculate a first variation in the extracted cardiovascular feature compared to a reference cardiovascular feature measured at a reference time; determine a measurement posture of the PPG signal based on a time interval between two waveform components of the PPG signal; in response to the measurement posture corresponding to the reference posture, estimate the blood pressure based on the first variation; and in response to the measurement posture not corresponding to the reference posture, obtain a second variation by correcting the first variation; and estimate blood pressure based on the second variation.

Abstract: Provided is an apparatus for estimating blood pressure, including a pulse wave sensor configured to measure a pulse wave signal of a user, and a processor configured to obtain, based on the pulse wave signal, one or more feature values corresponding to the blood pressure, detect whether a change in a posture of a user from a first posture to a second posture occurs while measuring the pulse wave signal, based on the change in the posture being detected, correct a reference blood pressure based on a blood pressure variation caused by the change in the posture, correct the one or more feature values based on a variation in one or more pulse wave signal feature values caused by the change in the posture, and estimate the blood pressure based on the corrected reference blood pressure and the corrected one or more feature values.

The pulse wave sensor includes a plurality of channels, each channel of the plurality of channels being configured to measure a first pulse wave signal of a first wavelength and a second pulse wave signal of a second wavelength that is different from the first wavelength. The processor is configured to: for each channel of the plurality of channels, generate a first oscillogram based on the first pulse wave signal, generate a second oscillogram based on the second pulse wave signal, and convert a phase delay between the first oscillogram and the second oscillogram into an area. The processor is further configured to determine a channel among the plurality of channels based on the area of each channel, and estimate bio-information based on the determined channel.
