Abstract: A sealed battery includes a sealing plate 13 sealing a mouth of an outer can, an external terminal 16 attached to the sealing plate 13 and having a connecting terminal 23, and a current interruption mechanism 18 interrupting current in response to pressure increase in the outer can that is installed in a conductive pathway electrically connecting the connecting terminal 23 and an electrode assembly. In the connecting terminal 23, a through-hole 23b continuing to the space on the current interruption mechanism 18 at the side corresponding to the outside of the battery is formed. The through-hole 23b is sealed with a terminal stopper 30 made of an elastic member so as to form a closed space between the terminal stopper 30 and current interruption mechanism 18. An electrolyte or washing solution hardly enters the current interruption mechanism during the manufacture can be provided.

Abstract: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: a stacked electrode assembly formed by stacking a plurality of layers of a positive electrode plate and a plurality of layers of a negative electrode plate with a separator interposed therebetween; a nonaqueous electrolyte; and an aluminum laminated outer body that stores the stacked electrode assembly and into which the nonaqueous electrolyte is poured. The positive electrode plate contains a positive electrode active material. The negative electrode plate contains a negative electrode active material. The stacked electrode assembly includes an inorganic particle layer containing a binder and inorganic particles between the positive electrode plate and the separator or between the negative electrode plate and the separator, or both. The nonaqueous electrolyte is also prepared by adding LiPF2O2 thereto.

Abstract: A high-reliability prismatic secondary battery with a current interruption mechanism that is unlikely to be damaged even if the battery is subjected to shock is provided. The prismatic secondary battery includes a second insulating member having a first through-hole, the second insulating member being arranged between a first region of a positive electrode collector and an inversion plate. The first region of the positive electrode collector and the inversion plate are electrically connected to each other through the first through-hole. The second insulating member has a plurality of fixing pawl portions. The fixing pawl portions are hooked and fixed to a fixing portion formed on the outer surface side of the conductive member.

Abstract: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has a pressure-sensitive elastic element reliably operating at a desired operating pressure. The battery includes an outer can having an opening; an electrode assembly which is housed in the outer can and comprises a positive electrode having a positive electrode current collector and a negative electrode having a negative electrode current collector; a sealing plate sealing the opening; an external electrode terminal whose one end is engaged with the throughhole of the sealing plate and whose other end projects outside the sealing plate; and a pressure-sensitive elastic element which is disposed inside the sealing plate in the battery and deforms in accordance with an increase in the gas pressure in the battery, the external electrode terminal. The external electrode terminal includes therein a hole connecting the outside of the battery and the space in contact with the outer side of pressure-sensitive elastic element.

Abstract: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly including positive and negative electrode plates; a nonaqueous electrolyte; an outer body; and a current interruption mechanism being provided on at least one of a conductive pathway between the positive electrode plate and a positive electrode external terminal and a conductive pathway between the negative electrode plate and a negative electrode external terminal. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains an overcharge inhibitor. The positive electrode active material layer has a specific surface area of 1.3 m2/g or less. The positive electrode active material layer has a total surface area of 41 m2/g or less with respect to the total mass of the overcharge inhibitor in the nonaqueous electrolyte. Thus the battery can increase a battery internal pressure inside the outer body in a short period of time to activate the current interruption mechanism to interrupt the conductive pathway if the battery is overcharged.
