    Abstract: A secondary battery includes an electrode body including a positive-electrode sheet and a negative-electrode sheet, an exterior body having an opening and accommodating the electrode body, a sealing body sealing the opening, a terminal electrically connected to the positive-electrode sheet and extending through a through-hole formed in the sealing body, and a conductive member connected to the terminal outside the sealing body. The conductive member includes a fuse. The fuse is covered by a cover. An insulating member is disposed between the conductive member including the fuse and the sealing body.

    Abstract: An electrode body including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate is accommodated in a prismatic outer package having an opening. The opening of the prismatic outer package is sealed with a sealing plate. The electrode body includes positive electrode tab portions stacked at an end portion on the sealing plate side. The stacked positive electrode tab portions are divided into two forming a first tab group and a second tab group. A resin member serving as a holding member holding a metal member is fixed to the sealing plate. The metal member is disposed between the first tab group and the second tab group. Lead portions of a positive electrode collector is connected to the first tab group and the second tab group at a surface positioned opposite to a surface that opposes the metal member.

    Abstract: The positive electrode substrate exposed portions or the negative electrode substrate exposed portions, or both, of an electrode assembly is split into two groups, and therebetween is disposed an intermediate member made of a resin material and holding one or more connecting conductive members. Collector members for the substrate exposed portions split into two groups is electrically joined by a resistance welding method to the substrate exposed portions split into two groups, together with the connecting conductive member(s) of the intermediate member. The resin material portion of the intermediate member protrudes, in the extension direction of the substrate exposed portions split into two groups, beyond the ends of the substrate exposed portions split into two groups and the ends of the collector member to a prismatic outer can. This structure enables enhanced resistance between the substrate exposed portions and the collector member and curbs variation in the welding strength.

    Abstract: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes an external electrode terminal, a current collecting tab, a lead, and first and second insulating members. The lead has a hollow portion, electrically connecting the external electrode terminal and the diaphragm. The diaphragm is placed to cover the hollow portion and allow the diaphragm to deform toward the hollow portion. The first insulating member is interposed between the sealing plate and the lead. The second insulating member is interposed between the diaphragm and the current collecting tab. Side walls of the first insulating member and side walls of the second insulating member are coupled to each other. The battery is configured such that the diaphragm deforms toward the outside of the battery when a gas pressure increases in the battery, thereby breaking an electric connection between the external electrode terminal and an electrode assembly of the battery.

    Abstract: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to an embodiment of the invention includes: a flat electrode assembly including a positive electrode and a negative electrode; a bottomed prismatic hollow outer can storing the flat electrode assembly and a nonaqueous electrolyte and having an opening portion; and a sealing plate sealing the opening portion of the hollow outer can.
