摘要: An expansion cone useful for expanding an expandable tubular, the expansion cone includes: a base material selected from a group consisting of alloyed steel, tungsten carbide coated alloyed steel, and cemented tungsten carbide; an intermediate buffering layer; and a coating deposited on an outer surface of the intermediate buffering layer; wherein the intermediate buffering layer is deposited between an outer surface of the steel alloy base material and the coating, wherein the intermediate buffering layer is one or more selected from a group consisting of Silicon (Si), Titanium (Ti), and silicon carbide (SiC), and wherein the coating is a diamond containing coating.

摘要: A drill bit having a rotatable ball bit includes a first bit head and a second bit head, a first set of cutters on the first bit head, and a second set of cutters on the second bit head. The rotatable ball bit is configured to rotate between a first position and a second position, wherein the first bit head is distal to the second bit head in the first position, and wherein the second bit head is distal to the first bit head in the second position. A method of operating a rotatable ball bit includes orienting the rotatable ball bit in a first position, wherein a first bit head is oriented distally, rotating the rotatable ball bit about a longitudinal axis, orienting the rotatable ball bit in a second position, wherein a second bit head is oriented distally, and rotating the rotatable ball bit about the longitudinal axis.

Methods of preventing or reducing cutter loss in a steel body PDC drilling tool may include applying a hardfacing layer on a surface of a PDC cutter pocket of the steel body PDC drilling tool; applying a coated buffering layer on the hardfacing layer to form a coated PDC cutter pocket; and bonding the PDC cutter into the coated PDC cutter pocket with a brazing material.

摘要: A reversible polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit. The reversible PDC bit includes at least one blade, at least one front cutter disposed on a first side of the at least one blade, and at least one rear cutter disposed on a second side of the at least one blade, wherein the first side is opposite to the second side along a circumferential direction of the reversible PDC bit, wherein rotating the reversible PDC bit in a clockwise direction engages the at least one front cutter to cut into a subterranean formation, and wherein rotating the reversible PDC bit in a counter-clockwise direction engages the at least one rear cutter to cut into the subterranean formation.
