Abstract: A method for detecting a defect in a hearing instrument that has at least one first input transducer and at least one output transducer. A first transfer function of a first acoustic system, which includes the output transducer and the first input transducer, is determined, and at least a first reference function for the first transfer function is determined. The first transfer function is compared with the first reference function and a defect in the hearing instrument is detected based on the comparison. A hearing instrument with an input transducer and an output transducer is set up to carry out the method.

Abstract: A method for the frequency distortion of an audio signal includes splitting the audio signal into a plurality of specified frequency bands, in which a band limit frequency is defined in each case by two respective immediately adjacent frequency bands. A first frequency band and a second frequency band lying immediately above the first frequency band are determined on the basis of the audio signal. A distortion of the frequencies differing from the distortion applied to signal components in the second frequency band is applied to signal components in the first frequency band, and a frequency-distorted signal is generated as a result. A method for suppressing an acoustic feedback in an acoustic system and a hearing aid are also provided.

Abstract: A method operates a hearing aid which has at least one input transducer and at least one output transducer. An input signal is generated by the at least one input transducer from a sound signal in the environment. From the input signal, a classification of a hearing situation of the environment is determined and/or at least one of four parameters including tonality, loudness, stationarity and reverberation time is determined for the sound signal of the environment. A first intermediate signal is generated in dependence on the input signal by signal processing. Wherein by the classification of the hearing situation and by at least one of the four parameters of tonality, loudness, stationarity and reverberation time, at least one parameter of a frequency distortion is predetermined. The frequency distortion predetermined in this way is applied to the first intermediate signal.

Abstract: A method distorts the frequency of an input signal that is present as an audio signal. Here, the input signal is divided into a low-frequency signal component and a high-frequency signal component. These two signal components adjoin one another at a cut-off frequency. The high-frequency signal component is frequency-distorted and overlaid with the low-frequency signal component to form an output signal. An associated gain factor is modified, at least for an edge region, containing the cut-off frequency, of the high-frequency signal component and/or of the low-frequency signal component, such that a level difference between a signal level of the low-frequency signal component and a signal level of the frequency-distorted high-frequency signal component is increased.

Abstract: A method improves a picked-up signal in a hearing system. The hearing system has at least one hearing device, particularly a hearing aid. The hearing aid device has an associated first directional microphone that has an adjustable first directional characteristic with a preferential direction. The first directional microphone converts sound into a first signal that is adopted in the picked-up signal. A speech activity of a user of the hearing system is monitored, and recognition of a speech activity of the user prompts the preferential direction of the first directional characteristic to be adjusted in comparison with a frontal direction of the user such that the sound sensitivity of the first directional microphone undergoes attenuation in the frontal direction.

Abstract: A method for operating a hearing system is defined, wherein a sound signal emanating from a sound source is measured by a plurality of microphones, which are fitted in different devices. Each of the microphones detects the sound signal and generates therefrom a microphone signal. The hearing system is binaural and two of the devices are each embodied as a hearing aid. For at least the two microphone signals from the microphones of the hearing aids there is determined an individual reverberation time in each case, and the individual reverberation times are combined in a dataset from which a general reverberation time is determined. An operating parameter of the hearing system is adjusted according to the general reverberation time. A corresponding hearing system is also defined.

Abstract: A hearing system assists the hearing of a user and has a hearing instrument worn in or on the ear of the user. In operation, a sound signal from surroundings of the hearing instrument is received by an input transducer and modified in a signal processing step. The modified sound signal is output by an output transducer. A first signal component and a second signal component are derived from the received sound signal, wherein these signal components chronologically overlap. In the first signal component, the ego voice of the user is emphasized over the ambient noise, while in the second signal component, the ambient noise is emphasized over the ego voice of the user. The first signal component and the second signal component are processed in different ways in the signal processing step and combined after this processing to generate the modified sound signal.
