Abstract: The invention pertains to a polyaryl ether sulfone polymer solution [solution (SP)] comprising: —at least one sulfone polymer [polymer (PSI)] having recurring units, wherein more than 50% moles, with respect to all the recurring units of polymer (PSI), are recurring units (RPSI) selected from the group consisting of those of formulae (RPSI-1) and (RPSI-2) herein below: (RPSI-1) (RPSI-2) wherein: —each of E′, equal to or different from each other and at each occurrence, is selected from the group consisting of those of formulae (E′-1) to (E′-3): (E′-I) (E′-II) (E′-III) —each R′ is independently selected from the group consisting of halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, ether, thioether, carboxylic acid, ester, amide, imide, alkali or alkaline earth metal sulfonate, alkyl sulfonate, alkali or alkaline earth metal phosphonate, alkyl phosphonate, amine and quaternary ammonium; and —j′ is zero or an integer of 1 to 4; is a bond or a divalent group optionally comprising one or more than one heteroatom; preferably T is selected from the group consisting of a bond, —CH2—, —C(O)—, —C(CH3)2—, —C(CF3)2—, —C(═CCI2)—, —C(CH3)(CH2CH2—COOH)—, and a group of formula: (A) —at least one polar organic solvent [solvent (S)]; and —at least one mixture of polyhydroxyl aliphatic alcohols having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or derivatives thereof [mixture (PHA)], said mixture (PHA) comprising at least one ethylene glycol compound [compound (EthyGly)] and at least one glycerol compound [compound (Gly)], to its use for manufacturing membranes, and to membranes obtained therefrom.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process for manufacturing a fluoropolymer membrane, said process comprising the following steps: (i) providing a composition [composition (C)] comprising, preferably consisting of: at least one fluoropolymer [polymer (F)], a water-soluble liquid medium [medium (Mws)] comprising, preferably consisting of at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of diesters of formula (I-de), esteramides of formula (I-ea) and diamides of formula (I-da); R1 (O═)CO-Ade-OC(═O)R2 (I-de) R1O(O═)C-Aea-C(═O)NR3R4 (I-ea) R5R6N(O═)C-Ada-C(═O)NR5R6 (I-da) wherein: R1 and R2, equal to or different from each other, are independently selected from the group consisting of C1-C20 hydrocarbon groups; R3, R4, R5 and R6, equal to or different from each other, are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C36 hydrocarbon groups, possibly substituted, being understood that R3, R4, R5 and R6 might be part of a cyclic moiety including the nitrogen atom to which they are bound, said cyclic moiety being possibly substituted and/or possibly comprising one or more than one additional heteroatoms, Ade is a C3-C10 divalent alkylene group comprising one or more ether oxygen atoms, Aea and Ada, equal to or different from each other, are independently C3-C10 divalent alkylene groups, optionally comprising one or more ether oxygen atoms and/or one or more functional side groups; (ii) processing the composition (C) at a temperature of at least 100° C. thereby providing a film; (iii) cooling the film provided in step (ii) to a temperature below 50° C.; (iv) contacting the film provided in step (iii) with a non-solvent medium [medium (M NS)] thereby providing a fluoropolymer membrane; and (v) optionally, drying the fluoropolymer membrane provided in step (iv).
