Abstract: A system and method for providing autonomous control of a vehicle. The system and method comprising a processor and a memory including instructions executable by the processor. The processor identifying at least one data input of a route of autonomous travel by a vehicle and receive a first autonomous action for controlling autonomous travel of the vehicle. The processor determine a second autonomous action for controlling autonomous travel of the vehicle based on the at least one data input. The processor generating a selectable output that includes the first autonomous action and the second autonomous action. The processor receives an input indicating a selected one of the first autonomous action and the second autonomous action and selectively control autonomous travel of the vehicle based on the selected one of the first autonomous action and the second autonomous action.

Abstract: A method for signal anomaly detection includes receiving at least one signal and determining, using at least one machine learning anomaly detection model, whether a value associated with the at least one signal is within a range of an expected value. The method also includes, in response to a determination that the value associated with the at least one signal is not within the range of the expected value, incrementing a counter, and, in response to a determination that a value of the counter is greater than or equal to a threshold value, identifying, based on the at least one signal, signal anomaly information. The method also includes communicating the signal anomaly information to a remote computing device, receiving, from the remote computing device, diagnostics information responsive to the signal anomaly information, and, in response to receiving the diagnostics information, initiating at least one corrective action procedure.

Abstract: A method of transitioning from an autonomous driving mode to a manual driving mode for a vehicle is provided. The method includes comparing a steering device input angle to an autonomously controlled steering angle to determine a steering angle error. The method also includes comparing an acceleration or deceleration input to an autonomously controlled acceleration or deceleration input to determine an acceleration or deceleration error. The method further includes progressively transitioning to the manual driving mode in a weighted manner based on a confidence level factor determined by a calculation that factors in the steering angle error and the acceleration or deceleration error.

Abstract: A method for providing operating mode transition for a vehicle includes receiving an input indicating a request to transition from a first operating mode of the vehicle to a second operating mode of the vehicle and determining a first planned trajectory corresponding to the first operating mode. The method also includes determining a second planned trajectory corresponding to the second operating mode. The method also includes determining a first road wheel actuator angle corresponding to the first planned trajectory and determining a second road wheel actuator angle corresponding to the second planned trajectory. The method also includes determining a difference between a current handwheel actuator angle and a handwheel actuator angle corresponding to the second road wheel actuator angle and, in response to a determination that the difference is less than a threshold, transitioning from the first operating mode to the second operating mode over a determined period.

Abstract: One or more embodiments are described herein of a controller system in a steering system. The controller system includes a first electric control unit (ECU) that operates as a primary ECU of the controller system, the primary ECU sending a motor command to a motor to generate torque. The controller system further includes a second ECU that operates as a backup for the first ECU. The operation as the backup includes monitoring the first ECU for a failure. In response to detecting the failure at the first ECU, the second ECU operates as the primary ECU of the controller system, and initiates a domain controller to operate as the backup ECU.
