A method of a first base station in a communication system and an apparatus therefor are provided. The method includes determining an addition mode configured to add a second base station, identifying whether to add the second base station based on the addition mode, and performing a procedure of adding the second base station based on the second base station being identified as being added. The addition mode may indicate one of a combination of at least one of a blind addition, a traffic criterion addition and a measurement report criterion addition. The method may be applied to intelligent services (e.g., smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, healthcare, digital education, retail business, security and safety-related service) based on the 5th generation (5G) communication technology and Internet of Things (IoT)-related technology. The method and apparatus propose a connection management method in a dual connectivity system.

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving a paging message in a mobile communication system and, more particularly, to a method and an apparatus for determining a priority between paging messages at a wireless access point and paging a terminal. A method for paging a wireless access point in a mobile communication system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: receiving a plurality of paging messages from a core network; determining a priority between the plurality of paging messages; and transmitting the paging message to a terminal on the basis of the determined priority, wherein information on a number of paging attempts included in the paging messages is used for determining the priorities. The present disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system that will be provided to support higher data rates than a post-4G communication system such as LTE.

To solve the problem wherein a terminal cannot perform data communication from a network from the time point of a terminal receiving a handover command (HO command) message from a base station controlling a source cell to the time point of a terminal receiving a handover complete (HO complete) message from a base station controlling a target cell, after the terminal transmits the handover command message to the base station controlling the source cell, the base station controlling the source cell transmits to the base station controlling the target cell whether or not the terminal supports a function of reducing the interruption time of data transfer, the terminal continues to perform data transmission/reception with the base station controlling the source cell, and after the terminal completes a random access procedure with the base station controlling the target cell, the base station controlling the source cell transmits an additional sequence number status transfer message to the base station controlling the target cell.

The disclosure relates to a 5th generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system for supporting higher data transfer rates than 4th generation (4G) communication systems such as long term evolution (LTE). According to various embodiments of the disclosure, a method for operating a base station in which a Master Cell Group (MCG) is configured in a wireless communication system may include: detecting a failure of a Primary Cell (PCell) of a Secondary Cell Group (SCG) (PScell), transmitting inter-Radio Access Technology (RAT) measurement configuration information to a terminal based on the detection, and transmitting information on a cell identified based on the measurement configuration information to a base station in which the SCG is configured.

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for supporting a handover and, more particularly, to a method and an apparatus for changing a mobile management entity while maintaining a connection state of a connection mode terminal. In order to achieve the above-mentioned objective, a method for supporting a handover of a serving mobile management entity (MME) according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: receiving a tracking area update (TAU) request message from a terminal: determining whether the serving MME of the terminal needs to be changed, on the basis of the TAU request message; and transmitting, in the case where it is determined that the serving MME of the terminal needs to be changed, an MME change request message to an eNB.

A method and apparatus for performing a terminal trace in a wireless communication system is disclosed. A control method for a femto base station according to an embodiment of the present invention may comprise the steps of: after a terminal is handed over to the femto base station, receiving terminal trace activation information from a serving base station; and transmitting a message including the received terminal trace activation information to a femto gateway (HeNB gateway) so as to allow the femto gateway to trace the terminal.
