    摘要: The present invention embodies a fuel injector that takes up limited space when installed on the cylinder head of an associated engine. According to the invention in a fuel injection nozzle of the kind specified the wider portion of the nozzle body is provided with a slot which extends from the step toward the nozzle holder, the portion of the nozzle holder adjecent the nozzle body being provided with a slot. A chip member located in the slot secures the collar to the nozzle holder to retain the nozzle body relative to the nozzle holder.

    摘要: A fuel injection nozzle for supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine comprises an inwardly opening valve member which is urged by fuel under pressure against the action of a spring to allow fuel flow through an outlet opening. The valve member is surrounded by a sleeve member which is also subjected to the fuel pressure and engages the valve member to assist the initial movement thereof. The sleeve is slidable in a bore and the valve member in the sleeve. The working clearance between the wall of the bore and the sleeve and between the sleeve and the valve member are interconnected by radial bores or by making the sleeve from porous material such as sintered material.

    摘要: An earth boring machine is shown with an improved kelly seal. The machine includes a hydraulic cylinder and a kelly rotatably carried within the cylinder and axially movable with respect to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder. A rotary quill surrounds the kelly for supplying rotational force to the kelly. A packing assembly carried about the kelly within the hydraulic cylinder proximate and end thereof seals hydraulic fluid within the hydraulic cylinder. An improved retaining assembly connects the packing assembly to the rotary quill but allows limited relative rotational movement of the packing assembly with respect to the rotary quill about the longitudinal axis of the kelly. The limited movement provided by the retainer assembly isolates the packing assembly from drive torque which is transferred from the rotary quill to the kelly, thereby reducing the tendency of the packing assembly to drive the kelly.

    摘要: A fuel injection nozzle of the two stage lift type has a nozzle body containing the valve member of the nozzle and a holder which are spaced apart by a distance piece. A first spring acts on the valve member and a second spring is operative on the valve member after the latter has moved a predetermined distance away from the valve seating. The second spring is engaged by a spring abutment which in the closed position of the valve member engages the adjacent face of the distance piece and the end of the valve member lies flush with the valve body. A push piece is interposed between the valve member and the spring abutment and the extent of movement of the valve member before the second spring is brought into operation is determined by maching the push piece and/or the distance piece.

    摘要: A fuel injector for supplying fuel to an engine has an elongated body in which is defined a bore at one end of which is formed a seating. Located with clearance within the bore is a fuel pressure actuated elongated valve member which at one end is shaped for co-operation with the seating. At its other end the valve member is guided for movement by a guide bush which is able to move radially to a limited extent in the body. Between the guide bush and the seating the valve member has an enlargement which co-operates with the wall of the bore to ensure that the valve member remains concentric with the seating as it moves away from the seating. The guide bush is conveniently formed by an outer bush and an inner bush with the inner bush able to move axially relative to the outer bush. The fuel pressure at the inlet of the injector acts on the inner bush to assist the initial movement of the valve member away from the seating.
