At least one tube of the plurality of tubes has a cross section with an aspect ratio greater than 1:1, relative to a substantially horizontal web.

    摘要: In a fuel cell stack, an inlet fuel distributor (15, 31, 31a, 31b) comprises a plurality of fuel distributing passageways (17-23, 40-47, 64) of substantially equal length and equal flow cross section to uniformly distribute fuel cell inlet fuel from a fuel supply conduit (13, 14, 50) to a fuel inlet manifold (28). The conduits may be either channels (40-47; 64) formed within a plate (39) or tubes (17-23). The channels may have single exits (65) or double exits (52, 53) into the fuel inlet manifold.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing a fuel cell flow field plate is disclosed in which a generally even flow distribution across the flow field is provided. The method includes providing an inlet manifold in fluid communication with the flow field. The flow field includes multiple channels for which some of the channels receive restricted flow from the inlet manifold as compared to other channels. A relative pressure drop between the channels is altered with a pressure drop feature to encourage fluid flow from the inlet manifold to the channels with restricted flow, which results in a generally even flow distribution across the flow field.

    摘要: Fuel is provided to an inlet (14) of a cascade region (15) which has a plurality of stages (17-23), each of which divides fuel flow evenly into a pair of corresponding slots (24-26). The flow is then spread across a floor surface (41) of a cascade exit header (40), the flow spreading into areas between the slots. The flow is then directed into an open cavity which is in fluid communication with the inlets of the fuel flow fields (12) of the fuel cells, reaching the fuel flow field inlets uniformly and simultaneously.
