    摘要: Factors affecting the response time of a transfer system from the combustion of injected fuel to the detection of its oxygen concentration include a stroke delay time due to an engine speed, the dependence of an LAF sensor response time on an exhaust gas flow rate, a response time change of the LAF sensor due to its deterioration with time, and the like. If a hyperplane of the sliding mode is fixed without considering the above-mentioned factors affecting the response time of the transfer system, an overshoot or oscillation of a feedback system may occur at low speeds of the engine even if preferable feedback responsiveness can be achieved, for example, at high speeds of the engine. This results in aggravated exhaust emissions, degraded drivability due to torque fluctuations, and fluctuations in idle speed.A hyperplane used in a control system for providing feedback control of an air-fuel ratio through sliding mode control is varied based on the factors affecting the response time of the control system within a range in which the control system can be stabilized.

    摘要: A leak detection apparatus for an evaporative emission control system is provided. By the apparatus, a current through a motor driven air pump is detected and determined as a judgment level when the air pump is ON and a directional control valve is in a position of connecting a fresh air inlet of a canister to an atmospheric vent, for thereby allowing air from the air pump to pass through a reference orifice of a bypass conduit and thereafter be released to the open air through the directional control valve. Then, it is established a condition in which the air pump is ON and the directional control valve is in a position of connecting the fresh air inlet to an outlet of the air pump so that air from the air pump passes through the directional control valve and the fresh air inlet of the canister and is supplied to the purge line, and this condition is maintained for a predetermined time. The predetermined time is made shorter as the temperature of fuel detected by a fuel temperature sensor is higher and a tank residual detected by a tank residual sensor is larger. At a measurement timing after lapse of the predetermined time, the current through the air pump is measured and determined as a leak level. When the leak level is lower than the judgment level, it is determined that a leak is present in the evaporative emission control system, i.e., a leak is present in a fuel vapor flow passage extending from a fuel tank to a purge control valve by way of the canister. A method of detecting a leak in an evaporative emission control system is also provided.

    摘要: According to the present invention, when controlling a heater in an air-fuel ratio sensor, a crack of sensor element due to an exhaust condensed water is certainly avoided. To this end, an element temperature is detected by measuring an impedance of the sensor element and a power supply amount to the heater for heating the sensor element is feedback controlled so that the element temperature reaches a target temperature. Here, the target temperature is set to a lower side temperature, compared to other conditions, on a condition that a wall temperature of an exhaust system is low and a water content in the exhaust is condensed in the exhaust system. Or, an initial value of the power supply amount is set corresponding to the element temperature before the start of power supply to the heater. Or, an increase component of the power supply amount is set corresponding to the element temperature, and the power supply amount to the heater is feedforward controlled so as to be increased gradually by each predetermined increase component from a predetermined initial value.
