    摘要: The heavy/light grade of fuel supplied to an internal combustion engine is detected, for example with a sensor or by detecting fluctuations in combustion pressure, and a retard angle correction amount for control of an ignition timing retard angle for activating an exhaust gas purification catalytic converter during a predetermined interval after engine start-up, is set based on the detected properties of the fuel. The time required for activating the exhaust gas purification catalytic converter can thus be shortened by retarding the ignition timing, corresponding to the heavy/light grade of the fuel, to increase the exhaust temperature while maintaining combustion stability.

    摘要: A pull-down resistor is connected to a power source line between power source connectors and a detector circuit in an apparatus in which a power source is connected via the power source connectors to the detector circuit, which includes a temperature-sensitive resistor and which outputs a voltage signal to a control unit via signal connectors. The pull-down resistor increases current flow to the power source connectors thus to suppress oxide formation thereon. A pull-up resistor or a pull-down resistor is connected to a signal line between the signal connectors and a filter circuit in the control unit, in order to increase an electric current that flows into the signal connector terminals thereby to prevent the formation of an oxide film on the signal connector terminals.

    摘要: The air/fuel ratio of an intake mixture of an internal combustion engine becomes excessively rich due to fuel leaked from the fuel injection valve into the intake system during a period from shut-down until restart. To overcome the resultant poor starting, the amount of leakage is estimated based on the engine temperature at shut down, and an elapsed time from shut-down until restart which is determined for example based on a difference between the engine shut-down temperature and the engine temperature at restart. The start-up fuel injection amount or the start-up intake flow rate is then corrected corresponding to this leakage amount.As a result, since a suitable start-up air/fuel ratio can be obtained in spite of fuel leakage from the fuel injection valve into the intake system, good engine starting can be ensured.

    摘要: The open and close frequency of an intake control valve 30 for controlling an intake amount at an open and close time proportion, is variably controlled in accordance with engine rotational speed or elapsed time. As a result, during control of fuel vapor treatment, biased supply to a specific cylinder of fuel vapor drawn into the engine from an absorption device 29 is suppressed, so that an averaged air-fuel ratio can be obtained for each cylinder. Therefore, combustion variation between the cylinders can be avoided, the increased engine vibration due to the resultant increase in combustion pressure variation reduced, and the deterioration in exhaust composition and vehicle driving performance can be minimized.
