Abstract: Noise cancellation systems and methods are provided that receive a reference signal representative of a noise to be reduced and provide a noise cancellation signal based upon the reference signal. Some examples include a feedback signal representative of a residual noise in the environment. At least one of the reference signal, the noise cancellation signal, or the feedback signal is filtered to remove components based upon a rotational rate of a rotating equipment associated with the environment, such as an engine of a vehicle. Accordingly, the noise cancellation system may not interfere with sounds related to the engine.

Abstract: An air moving device (AMD) includes a housing that dampens noise and routes airflow. The AMD housing includes a focal-bearing surface that has an associated focal point. The focal-bearing surface routes airflow through the AMD housing and reflects and concentrates noise to the focal point. The AMD housing further includes a noise dampening structure at the focal point to reduce, absorb, and/or dampen the concentrated noise. Because the noise is concentrated, a relatively smaller size noise dampening structure may effectively or adequately reduce or dampen AMD noise. The smaller size noise dampening structure relatively reduces airflow impedance. As such, AMD housing may provide for both reduced AMD noise and relatively reduced airflow impedance therein and/or therefrom.

Abstract: A noise cancellation system for cancelling sounds within a vehicle. The noise cancellation system includes microphones, a camera, a controller, and speakers. The microphones are disposed adjacent to occupant locations, and configured to generate microphone signals representative of noise sounds and cancellation audio sounds. The camera is configured to generate a video signal that captures head configurations of the occupants. The controller is configured to receive rotor control signals, calculate hearing locations based on tracking data of the head configurations of the occupants, and generate a speaker signals based on the hearing locations, the microphone signals, and the rotor control signals. The speakers are configured to generate the cancellation audio sounds. The cancellation audio sounds attenuate the noise sounds.

Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) may emit masking sounds during operation of the UAV to mask other sounds generated by the UAV during operation. The UAV may be used to deliver items to a residence or other location associated with a customer. The UAV may emit sounds that mask the conventional sounds generated by the propellers and/or motors to cause the UAV to emit sounds that are pleasing to bystanders or do not annoy the bystanders. The UAV may emit sounds using speakers or other sound generating devices, such as fins, reeds, whistles, or other devices which may cause sound to be emitted from the UAV. Noise canceling algorithms may be used to cancel at least some of the conventional noise generated by operation of the UAV using inverted sounds, while additional sound may be emitted by the UAV, which may not be subject to noise cancelation.

Abstract: An exemplary engine noise control includes directly picking up engine noise from an engine of a vehicle at a pick-up position to generate a sense signal representative of the engine noise, and active noise control filtering to generate a filtered sense signal from the sense signal. The control further includes converting the filtered sense signal from the active noise control filtering into anti-noise and radiating the anti-noise to a listening position in an interior of the vehicle. The filtered sense signal is configured so that the anti-noise reduces the engine noise at the listening position.
