    摘要: A method of improving a vehicle emergency call network used during an enhanced 911 call, which is especially useful in environments having degraded GPS signals. The present method utilizes an independent position enhancement algorithm, such as a dead reckoning algorithm, and converts the output of that algorithm into a compatible format compatible with a position determining entity (PDE). Some independent position enhancement algorithms return output in the form of position information (typically, two- or three-dimensional coordinates), however, most PDEs only accept information in the form of pseudo-ranges. Thus, the present method provides a technique in which the advantages of an independent position enhancement algorithm are enjoyed, yet a compatible output is sent to the PDE.

    摘要: A system and method for extending the cellular range of communications using a vehicle telematics unit. The system includes the vehicle telematics unit which is connected with other vehicle hardware and includes wireless cellular capability for communicating from the vehicle to a call center or other facilities via a wireless communication system. The method carried out by the system includes identifying a cellular base station in wireless communication with a vehicle telematics unit; attempting an emergency call via the identified cellular base station using the vehicle telematics unit; determining that a forward link portion of a cellular signal between the vehicle telematics unit and the identified cellular base station lacks sufficient strength to place the attempted emergency call; and transmitting emergency communications via the identified cellular base station using a reverse link portion of the cellular signal based on the determination.

The processing device is coupled to the first antenna and the second antenna. The processing device is configured to monitor a parameter that is indicative as to whether the first antenna is operational, communicate using the first antenna if the parameter indicates that the first antenna is operational, and communicate using the second antenna if the parameter indicates that the first antenna is not operational.

    摘要: A connector assembly includes, but is not limited to, a body having a top side and a bottom side. A bottom signal plate is connected to the bottom side and is configured for capacitive coupling to a conductor of a coplanar waveguide. A bottom grounding plate is connected to the bottom side and is spaced apart from the bottom signal plate. The bottom grounding plate is configured for capacitive coupling to a grounding plane of the coplanar waveguide. A first electrically conductive pathway is electrically connected to the bottom signal plate and extends to the top side. A second electrically conductive pathway is electrically connected to the bottom grounding plate and extends to the top side. A dielectric adhesive at least partially covers a bottom portion of the connector assembly.
