In the method, a structure having a branched structure can be produced when a specific compound is used as a complexing agent. The silver-containing nanostructure thus produced can be used as a conductive paste or the like.

    摘要: Systems (50) and methods for measuring and displaying a visual and/or graphical representation of the specific modulus (E/ρ) of a cellular ceramic body (10), such as those used to form particulate filters, are disclosed. The ultrasonic measurement system employs an ultrasonic transmitter (52T) and an ultrasonic receiver (52R) adjacent to, but spaced apart from respective ends (16, 18) of the ceramic body. Multiple ultrasonic waves (80) are sent through corresponding multiple longitudinal portions (12P) of the honeycomb structure (12), where adjacent longitudinal portions overlap. Time of flight (TOF) measurements (TOF1, TOF2), along with other parameters describing the ceramic body, allow for the measurement of the sonic speed (cmat) of the ultrasonic waves that pass through the ceramic body as well as the attenuation (IR). The specific modulus is then calculated from the square of the sonic speed (C2mat). The high resolution of the ultrasonic measurements allows for improved evaluation of the manufacturing process.

    摘要: Both a system and method for detecting the presence or absence of internal discontinuities or inhomogeneities in a fired or green ceramic honeycomb structure is provided. The system includes a membrane disposed over a surface of the honeycomb structure, at least one ultrasonic transmitter that engages the membrane and transmits ultrasonic waves into the honeycomb structure, a translation assembly connected to the ultrasonic transmitter for sliding said transmitter across said membrane in a predetermined pattern, and an ultrasonic receiver that receives a modulated response from the ultrasonic waves transmitted into the honeycomb structure. The membrane is preferably plastic sheet material, such as polyester, having a temporary adhesive on one side and a thickness that is about one-quarter of the wavelength of the ultrasonic waves in order to avoid attenuation of the modulated response. In the method, the plastic sheet material is applied over the surface of the honeycomb structure via the temporary adhesive and the ultrasonic transmitter is simultaneously actuated while the translation assembly continuously slides the ultrasonic transmitter over the plastic sheet material in a predetermined scanning pattern.

    摘要: A method for detecting the presence or absence of internal discontinuities or inhomogeneities in a fired or green ceramic honeycomb structure is provided. In the method, an ultrasonic wave is propagated into the honeycomb structure at a first location, and a response of the propagated ultrasonic wave, as modulated and reflected (a pulse echo) by the honeycomb structure, is received at the first location. The received ultrasonic wave is filtered and then analyzed to determine the presence or absence of internal discontinuities. The transmitter generates ultrasonic waves having a frequency of five megahertz or less to maintain a high signal to noise ratio in the propagated wave received by the ultrasonic receiver.
