摘要: A lubrication and breather system for an engine that is generally adapted for use as either a vertically-oriented crankshaft-type engine or a horizontally-oriented crankshaft-type engine. The crankcase has first and second bearing bosses supporting first and second journal portions of the crankshaft. The second bearing boss lies above the first bearing boss when the engine is of the vertical-type. The system includes a cap that is secured over the second bearing boss and cooperates with the second bearing boss to define an annular chamber for receiving splashed oil produced in the crankcase. The cap has a plurality of ribs formed thereon that reduce an amount of oil, which is entrained in the blow-by gas, sent from the annular chamber to the breather chamber. The second bearing block includes an oil feed hole, a plurality of oil sumps, and a plurality of oil return holes, with the oil return holes being of relatively smaller size. Each of the oil sumps is associated with one oil return hole. A volume of oil ordinarily remains in the oil sump to limit entry of blow-by gases into the annular chamber via the oil return holes.

摘要: An improved method of modifying keratin fiber represented by wool is disclosed. Mechanical force is applied to keratin fiber in the presence of an aqueous solution of a transition metal salt to weaken and destroy the structure of the parts under the keratin layers in scales (surface cells) so that the transition metal may be introduced in the under-keratin layers locally at high a concentration. Then, the keratin fiber is immersed in a bath containing oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide and monopersulfuric acid. The oxidizing agents are decomposed by catalytic effect of the transition metal. Mainly due to pressure of oxygen gas evolved by the decomposition keratin layers, which are scales on the keratin fiber, are peeled off. Thus, it is possible to remove only the keratin parts, which are not agreeable to the touch, without damaging the non-keratin protein, and to provide modified fiber which substantially contains no remaining metal. High shrink proof effect may be achieved without using the conventional chlorine compounds as the oxidizing agents.

摘要: A lawnmower capable of being switched between a bagging mode and a mulching mode is disclosed. The lawnmower includes a shutter mechanism provided on an internal peripheral surface of a housing which opens downward for storing a cutting blade. The shutter mechanism is switched, by the operation of the shutter mechanism, between a bagging mode for delivering cut grass from the housing to a cut grass storage container and a mulching mode for discharging the cut grass out below the housing. The shutter mechanism has a kicker on a shutter body positioned in the interior of the housing. The kicker guides the cut grass to the bottom of the housing during the mulching mode.

摘要: This present invention relates to a method of improving the quality of animal fibers collected from sheep, goat, llama, or alpaca by removing scales.Firstly, (a), an oxidizing catalyst is absorbed in the hydrophilic areas on the surface of a fiber, that is, the joint sections (2) of the scales (1) and the end cuticles (3). Then, (b), the fiber is immersed in a solution of a chlorinating agent or an oxidizing agent to decompose the scales rapidly by oxidation in order to remove the scales (1). Then, (c), the fiber is treated with a solution of a reducing agent. The above process (a) is carried out by processing the acid to be used as a catalyst in a solution of a simple salt consisting strong acid and weak base or in an acidic gas in order to absorb it to the bonded moisture of the sections (2) and (3), or by bonding to the hydrophilic areas of the section (2) and (3) in a solution containing transition elements, Mg, or Al as ions, or in an organic solvent in which said solution is dispereded, after producing chelete bonding of said metals.This present invention improves the quality of blended products with animal fibers or furs efficiently in a short time at a room temperature.

摘要: Compositions and methods are directed to covalent adducts between reducing agents and optionally substituted 3-hydroxyflavans, wherein the reducing agent is covalently bound to the B-ring of the 3-hydroxyflavan. Such adducts exhibit markedly increased stability towards oxidation as compared to the unmodified 3-hydroxyflavan. Particularly preferred 3-hydroxyflavans include green tea catechins, and especially EGCG, while especially preferred reducing agents include NAC and glutathione.
