摘要： A binding apparatus for binding sheet materials with a covering material having a heat-adhesive agent at its bottom portion by bonding the bottom portion of the covering member and edges of the sheet materials includes a holder for holding the covering material and the sheet materials sandwiched by the covering material; a heater for heating the adhesive agent; a switch for switching power supply to the heater; a detector for detecting setting of the covering material in the holder; and a temperature controller. The temperature controller supplies power to provide a first temperature when the covering material is not set in the holder, supplies power to the heater to provide a second temperature higher than the first temperature when the covering material is set in the supporting member, and supplies the power to the heater to provide the first temperature after the covering member is taken out from the holding member.

摘要： An image forming apparatus has a book binding mechanism for performing a book bind operation using front sheets of a plurality of sizes which can bind a bundle of sheet members recorded by said image forming apparatus, and have limitations on the numbers of recorded sheet members to be bound. The image forming apparatus further has output means for outputting sheet number data according to a bundle of sheet members; judge means for judging whether or not the sheet number data output from said output means is larger than a range of the limitation; detect means for, when the judged result from said judge means is affirmative, dividing the sheet number data, and detecting a divided sheet number value which falls within the range of the limitation; and control means for controlling to perform a book bind operation in units of the sheet numbers detected by said detect means.

摘要： An image forming apparatus is arranged to form an image with laser light emitted from a semiconductor laser source, and is constructed so as to protect the laser source from a breakdown, by regulating electric current flowing to the laser source no matter when an adjusting circuit for adjusting the light amount of the semiconductor laser source is apt to supply the electric current that could break the laser source, to the laser source. The apparatus is constructed in such structure that during an automatic light amount control period the laser light amount emitted from the semiconductor laser source is detected and a current source circuit is made inactive when the light amount detected is over a set light amount and that during periods other than the control period the electric current flowing to the semiconductor laser is detected and the current source circuit is made inactive when the light amount detected becomes over a fixed ratio times the current detected during the automatic light amount control period. In this way, the protection circuit can operate effectively anytime of emission of the laser source, so as to protect the laser source from the breakdown.

摘要： A memory management control device and a memory management control method capable of preventing run away of an image processing apparatus caused by a rewrite to a memory, are provided. In rewriting a program stored in a flash memory 402 of a controller 400 included in an image processing apparatus, an operating state detector 500 detects the operating state of the image processing apparatus and transmits the detection result to an external apparatus 9. On the basis of this detected operating state, the external apparatus 9 performs rewrite control for the flash memory 402. If the image processing apparatus is in operation, or is in an intermediate state, an abnormal state, or a wait state, a rewrite action is executed after the state is canceled.

摘要： There is an image forming apparatus in which images of a plurality of originals set on the original plate glass are individually exposed, scanned and read, and the read images are synthesized and recorded at arbitrary positions on a recording paper. This apparatus also has a device to record the images on the front and back surfaces of the recording paper. The synthetic recording and the front and back surface recording can be arbitrarily switched and selected. This apparatus is provided with a trimming function to erase unnecessary image portions of the images, a masking function to prevent the shaded portions from being recorded on an paper, and the image shift function to adjust the synthesizing positions of the images on the recording paper for every image. In the serial page copy mode adapted for book images, the masking function is automatically selected and the recording positions on the front and back surfaces of the recording paper are aligned to either one of the right and left sides of the paper, so that the binding margins can be secured on one selected side of the paper. The masking function is released when the serial page copy mode is released.

摘要： A laser driving method is adapted for driving a plurality of laser emitting devices. A first current to be supplied to each of the plurality of laser emitting devices is always generated. A plurality of second currents controlled according to a control signal supplied from the outside are generated when necessary. The plurality of second currents are supplied to the respective laser emitting devices under supply of the respective first currents, thereby making the laser emitting devices emit respective laser beams. The plurality of laser emitting devices are caused to emit the laser beams in time division at predetermined timing to detect each of emitted light amounts by one laser monitor. Adjustment is made to at least one of the first current and the second current supplied to each of the laser emitting devices according to a plurality of detected light amounts detected. Supply of the current to the laser emitting devices not driven is stopped when the plurality of laser emitting devices are adjusted in light amount in time division.
