Forceps include a tubular shaft, an inserted member, a gripping portion, a handle, and a fixing portion. The inserted member is a rod-like member that is inserted inside the tubular shaft and is movable in an axial direction inside the tubular shaft. The gripping portion is provided at a distal end of the inserted member and is coupled to a distal end of the tubular shaft. The handle is coupled to a terminal end of the inserted member. The fixing portion detachably fixes the handle to the tubular shaft in a state where the handle is coupled to the inserted member. The distal end of the tubular shaft has a larger diameter than the diameter of a main body of the tubular shaft. A joint portion, having a smaller diameter than the diameter of the main body of the tubular shaft, is formed at the terminal end of the inserted member. The handle is provided with a joint receptacle that houses the joint portion and is advanced and retracted by manipulation of the handle.

The purpose of this invention is to provide a method for making upper and lower molds and an apparatus therefor that can prevent the resulting molds from being warped and match-plates from being broken. The method of this invention comprises the step of holding a match-plate 1 between cope and drag flasks 2 and 3, inserting upper and lower squeezing means 4 and 5 into the respective openings of the cope and drag flasks 2 and 3, which openings are opposite to the match-plate 1, so as to define upper and lower molding spaces, supplying molding sand to the upper and lower molding spaces, and then causing the upper and lower squeezing means 4 and 5 to move forward to the match-plate 1 so as to squeeze the molding sand and make upper and lower molds, wherein during the step of causing the upper and lower squeezing means to move forward to the match-plate the difference between the squeezing pressures of the upper and lower molding spaces is kept within a predetermined tolerance.

These inventions provide a method and an apparatus for setting a core used in a molding apparatus that produces flaskless molds, wherein the core-setting apparatus has a simple structure and the accuracy of the positioning of the core while setting it on the lower mold is improved. The inventions comprise: moving a first carrier 52 carrying a core-handling tool 51 which is holding the core 70 toward the cope flask 2 by means of a second carrier 53 when the cope flask 2 is located at the mold-stripping mechanism 12 being lifted to a lifted position by means of a flask-rotation mechanism 13; transferring the first carrier and the core-handling tool to the cope flask which is at the lifted position; lowering the cope flask 2, the core-handling tool 51, and the first carrier 52 by means of the flask-rotation mechanism 13 so that the core 70 comes close to or contacts the lower mold; and releasing the core 70 from the core-handling tool 51 to set the core on the lower mold.

A flaskless molding method, wherein a match plate (5) is held between an upper flask (2) and a lower flask (3) and squeeze plates (6) and (7) are inserted into the openings of the upper flask (2) and the lower flask (3) to form an upper manufacturing space and a lower manufacturing space with initial volumes. A foundry sand is filled in the upper and lower manufacturing spaces with the initial volumes through the supply ports of the flask (2) and (3) (first filling). Next, the squeeze plates (6) and (7) are retreated to expand the upper and lower manufacturing spaces more than the initial volumes. The foundry sand is filled again in the expanded upper and lower manufacturing spaces through the supply ports (second filling). After the second filling is completed, the squeeze plates (6) and (7) are advanced to compress the foundry sand in the upper and lower manufacturing spaces so as to manufacture the upper and the lower flasks stacked on each other.
