Abstract: A method of forming an integrated microstrip circulator includes translating a ferrite disc into an aperture in a dielectric substrate, securing the ferrite disc in the dielectric substrate with an adhesive to form a composite structure, and forming circuitry on an upper surface of the composite structure and forming surface mount contacts on a lower surface of the composite structure by metallizing the upper and lower surfaces of the composite structure.

In particular, a two-phase material can form based on the rutile phase of titanium oxide along with a spinel structure of ZnAl2O4. This material can have a dielectric constant below 15 which is simultaneously temperature stable.

Abstract: A method of forming a composite material for use as an isolator or circulator in a radiofrequency device comprises providing a low temperature fireable outer material, the low fireable outer material having a garnet or scheelite structure, inserting a high dielectric constant inner material having a dielectric constant above 30 within an aperture in the low temperature fireable outer material, and co-firing the lower temperature fireable outer material and the high dielectric constant inner material together at temperature between 650-900° C. to shrink the low temperature fireable outer material around an outer surface of the high dielectric constant inner material to form an integrated magnetic/dielectric assembly without the use of adhesive or glue.

The method includes providing Ba3NiTa2O9 and incorporating one of Ba2MgWO6, Ba8LiTa5WO24, Ba8LiTa5WO24, Ba2MgWO6, Ba3LaTa3O12, Ba8LiTa5WO24, BaLaLiWO6, Ba4Ta2WO12, Ba2La2MgW2O12, BaLaLiWO6, Sr3LaTa3O12, and SrLaTaO12 into the Ba3NiTa2O9 to form a solid solution having a high Q value of greater than 12000 at about 10 GHz.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of an enhanced resonant frequency hexagonal ferrite material and methods of manufacturing. The hexagonal ferrite material can be Y-phase hexagonal ferrite material, such as those including strontium. In some embodiments, oxides consistent with the stoichiometry of Sr3Co2Fe24O41, SrFe12O19 or CoFe2O4 can be used form an enhanced hexagonal ferrite material.
