Abstract: A communication device (1) for RF-based communication with another communication device (2) comprises an antenna circuitry (10) configured to transmit and receive RF signals and beamforming circuitry (11) configured to perform beamforming and to control the antenna circuitry in a beamforming training phase to transmit and/or receive RF signals using one or more selected directive beams. The beamforming circuitry (11) is configured to perform beamforming training by controlling the antenna circuitry i) to transmit data using at least one first directive transmit beam, wherein the other communication device (2) is configured to listen using a first directive receive beam, said data including a second transmit beam information, and ii) to subsequently listen using a predetermined second directive receive beam for a response from the other communication device (2), which is configured to transmit, if the data transmitted in step i) have been received, a response using a second directive transmit beam indicated by the second transmit beam information.

Abstract: A WiFi communications mechanism in which simultaneous transmission is negotiated and beamforming communications performed towards at least one station (STA), while nulling is performed towards one or more other access points (APs) to reduce interference. Omni-directional transmissions are utilized in a manner to overcome preamble interferences, which is used in combination with synchronizing symbol intervals to eliminate interference from symbol transitions. The enhanced simultaneous transmission protocol allows two APs to transmit simultaneously without interfering with one another.

Abstract: A coding and modulation apparatus and method are presented, particularly for use in a system according to IEEE 802.11. The apparatus comprises an encoder configured to encode input data into cell words according to an LDPC code and a modulator configured to modulate said cell words into constellation values of a non-uniform constellation and to assign bit combinations to constellation values of the used non-uniform constellation. The modulator is configured to use a non-uniform constellation and bit labeling from one of the several groups of constellations, which constellation show quadrant and octant symmetry.

The disclosed approaches comprise intelligent two stage searches, wherein information from the first stage is used in the second stage. This significantly reduces the computational complexity compared to the known approaches, with minimal loss in performance.

Abstract: A first communication device for communicating with a second communication device over a link that is utilized at the substantially same time and with the substantially same frequency resource by a pair of further communication devices.
