    Abstract: A communication device (1) for RF-based communication with another communication device (2) comprises an antenna circuitry (10) configured to transmit and receive RF signals and beamforming circuitry (11) configured to perform beamforming and to control the antenna circuitry in a beamforming training phase to transmit and/or receive RF signals using one or more selected directive beams. The beamforming circuitry (11) is configured to perform beamforming training by controlling the antenna circuitry i) to transmit data using at least one first directive transmit beam, wherein the other communication device (2) is configured to listen using a first directive receive beam, said data including a second transmit beam information, and ii) to subsequently listen using a predetermined second directive receive beam for a response from the other communication device (2), which is configured to transmit, if the data transmitted in step i) have been received, a response using a second directive transmit beam indicated by the second transmit beam information.

    Abstract: A coding and modulation apparatus and method are presented, particularly for use in a system according to IEEE 802.11. The apparatus comprises an encoder configured to encode input data into cell words according to an LDPC code and a modulator configured to modulate said cell words into constellation values of a non-uniform constellation and to assign bit combinations to constellation values of the used non-uniform constellation. The modulator is configured to use a non-uniform constellation and bit labeling from one of the several groups of constellations, which constellation show quadrant and octant symmetry.

    Abstract: A communication device for RF-based communication with another communication device comprises digital beamforming circuitry configured to perform digital beamforming based on digital beamforming information to obtain RF data streams, and analog beamforming circuitry configured to perform analog beamforming for the obtained RF data streams. The analog beamforming circuitry is configured to perform analog beamforming training with the other communication device enabling the other communication device to compute the digital beamforming information corresponding to one or more combinations of analog beams used in said analog beamforming training.     Abstract: Transmitter having multiple transmit antennas for transmitting two or more streams. The transmitter comprises an encoding circuitry configured to perform space-time block encoding to obtain for at least one of the two or more streams a pair of space-time encoded streams. Further, a mapping circuitry is configured to assign each stream of each pair of space-time encoded streams to a transmit antenna of the multiple transmit antennas for wirelessly transmitting the two or more streams. Finally, a control circuitry is configured to adjust one or more parameters of the mapping circuitry in order to achieve a defined channel characteristic between the transmitter and a receiver.
