Abstract: A method, system, and media are provided for transmitting messages to a recipient through a communications network. Network condition measurements are obtained and communication gateways that execute temporal shifting agents are identified. A message is received from a first device and a header of the message is parsed to determine that (i) a temporal shifting message is being received and (ii) a second version of content is contained within the temporal shifting message. Upon parsing the temporal shifting message, embodiments update a previously stored first version of content with the second version of content. The second version of content is then transmitted to the recipient based on the obtained measurements for network conditions.

Abstract: A wireless communication network locates User Equipment (UE) that is served by a wireless repeater chain. The wireless repeater chain wirelessly exchanges user data with the UE and wirelessly exchanges the user data with a wireless base station. The wireless base station determines an amount of communication time delay between the UE and the wireless base station over the wireless repeater chain. The wireless base station identifies the wireless repeater in the wireless repeater chain that is wirelessly attached to the UE based on the communication time delay. The wireless base station identifies the geographic location of the UE based on the geographic location of the identified wireless repeater. The wireless base station transfers the geographic location of the UE.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for determining whether to allow a position-determining system to provide location information that describes a location of a mobile device. A series of steps are carried out in which information is exchanged between networked components. In an embodiment, a request for location information (e.g., map coordinates) is received together with contextual information (e.g., identification of a mobile device and identification of a requesting party). A set of rules, such as approved contextual information, is referenced to determine if the contextual information is permissible. Upon determining that the contextual information is permissible, the position-determining system is allowed to provide location information.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a physical overlay that can be secured to a mobile device and that covers at least a portion of the mobile device's user interface. The overlay includes a front portion that has input areas, which may be openings or physical keys. The mobile device detects or is told that the overlay is installed, and the mobile device receives configuration data associated with the overly that tells the mobile device the locations of the input areas on the overlay so that the user interface can be adjusted accordingly. The overlay also includes side portions that allow the overlay to be secured to the mobile device.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide for triggering an action based on detection of one or more user devices. One or more signals from at least one user device are detected by at least one sensor in a target area. A sensor can be in operable communication with a location server to which the signals are relayed. Based on the signals detected, a determination is made as to whether the one or more signals exceed a predetermined threshold for signal strength in the target area. Based on a set of signals exceeding the predetermined threshold for signal strength, the location server triggers an action that corresponds to the target area.

Abstract: Methods and systems for managing resource usage of a mobile device based on a resource threshold of a wireless communications network. A resource policy is received from a mobile device. The resource policy indicates that a network resource manager associated with a wireless communications network is authorized to use the resource policy to control the resource usage of the mobile device to support a resource threshold level of the wireless communications network. The wireless communications network is associated with a service provider of the mobile device. It is then determined that the wireless communications network has met the resource threshold. Upon determining that the wireless communications threshold has met the resource threshold, the resource usage of the mobile device is limited using the received resource policy of the mobile device.

Abstract: Methods, media, and network devices are provided for detecting errors in caller identifier records. A caller name provider is identified for a terminating endpoint that is a recipient of a communication from a transmitting device. The caller name provider receives queries for caller identifier information that will be transmitted to the terminating endpoint. The caller name provider returns records having the caller identifiers in response to the queries. When the records contain an error, the caller name providers receive update requests from a calling party of the transmitting device.
