Each projector is configured to project a component image to a projection surface at an image refresh rate, and the dynamic image shifting mechanism is configured to shift a projection path of the component image of the at least one projector. The controller is configured to modify image data sent to the at least one projector and to shift the dynamic image shifting device to produce a single composite image comprising the at least two component images.

The first plurality of sub-frames is displayed at a first plurality of spatially offset sub-frame display positions using the identified shifting parameters, thereby producing a displayed image.
