More specifically, two embodiments of a cell, one that is capable of being hydraulically recharged, and a second that is capable of being either hydraulically or electrically recharged. Additionally, each cell includes a sloped bottom portion to cause stirring of the electrolyte/metal particulate slurry when the cell is being hydraulically emptied and refilled during hydraulically recharging of the cell.

    摘要: Molten metal is fed to a caster in a continuous casting operation through a distributor that divides the molten metal into four streams flowing in circulating patterns from the central axis of the caster. Each stream sweeps first along the longer side wall of the caster toward the corner, then back along the shorter side wall toward the center line. The result is a higher degree of fragmentation of metal crystals as they form, and a better distribution of the fragments across the caster cross section, as well as a more even temperature distribution.

    摘要: A transfer system for use in machinery having stations for forming, filling and sealing cartons. The transfer system includes a turret having a hub and a number of spaced radial mandrels received by carton blanks, for use in forming the carton. A main conveyor conveys formed cartons to filling and sealing stations of the machinery. The transfer system includes a transfer conveyor, disposed between the turret and the main conveyor, which receives formed cartons one at a time, from the turret and holds at least one of the formed cartons in alignment with the main conveyor. The transfer system also includes mechanisms for stripping cartons, one at a time, from the mandrels and for transferring a plurality of cartons simultaneously to the main conveyor. A method of transferring cartons from an indexing turret to an indexing main conveyor using an indexing transfer conveyor, is also disclosed.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a device and method for electrolytic deposition of metals on conducting particles. The conducting particles are completely immersed in a liquid and allowed to flow across a particle contacting surface of a cathode support. The particles flow across the surface and into a reservoir. Electrical contact is made between the negative pole of a DC power supply and the conducting particles. An anode mesh is placed above and parallel to the top face of the particle bed such that the mesh does not touch the particle bed but remains a controlled distance from it. The anode mesh is connected to the positive terminal of the DC power supply. A significant aspect of the present invention is that the device does not require a separator between the particle bed and the anode.

    摘要: Structure for and method of automatically testing an electrical transmission powerline carrier channel on a programmable basis electronically from any end of a multi-ended powerline, including an electronic control unit located at each end of the powerline for transmitting a signal over the channel for a predetermined time, and receiving signals back from the control units of the other ends of the powerline for predetermined times and determining the condition of the powerline carrier channel based on the length of time transmission is received at the end of the powerline where the transmission was initiated. Supervisory testing, resetting and test-inhibiting from a remote location as well as manual initiation of tests at a test unit remote location are also provided. A remote master test structure and method tests the electronic circuit through which a test was initiated. Power may be selectively transmitted over the carrier channel sequentially or concurrently at full and partial power under control of the control units.
