摘要: The present invention relates to effervescent compositions of Metformin and optionally other anti-diabetic agents and processes for preparation thereof. More particularly provides an effervescent composition comprising Metformin, an acid and a base such that the composition is free of affirmatively added binders and granulating solvents. The effervescent composition of the present invention has retained carbon dioxide content of at least 90% of the input blend.

摘要: The present disclosure concerns effervescent compositions and methods of making and using the same. In some embodiments, the disclosed effervescent compositions are formed from an input blend comprising an acid and a base by granulating the input blend in a twin-screw processor. The granules formed from the input blend can be formed by an in situ granulating agent, which can be a portion of the acid that melts during granulation. In some embodiments, the effervescent compositions can be made using a twin-screw processor comprising an intake zone for receiving an input blend comprising an acid and a base; a granulation initiation zone for melting only a portion of the acid to serve as an in situ granulating agent; a granulation completion zone for granulating the input blend; and an outlet for discharging the granules.

摘要: A fractional lobe processor comprises a barrel with heating and cooling means having two parallel intersecting bores of equal diameter, wherein the centre distance between the two bores is lesser than the diameter of the bore; a shaft coupled with a plurality of screw elements to form a screw within each bore, wherein the screws are intermeshing and form at least three zones within the barrel, the zones comprising an intake zone comprising at least one deep flighted shovel element on each intermeshing screw for receiving a feed comprising an active substance and/or an excipient, a melt zone consisting of only fractional lobe elements for melting the active substance and/or an excipient to form a viscous mass or melt, and a discharge zone, wherein the melt zone is located before the discharge zone and after the intake zone; and wherein the melt zone has a plurality of fractional lobe elements on each shaft.

摘要: A process for preparing granules is disclosed. The process comprises the steps of feeding the input material for granulation in a processor using one or more powder feeders, introducing steam as a granulation activating agent in the processor, granulating the input material in presence of the steam to form granules, and collecting the granules from a discharge zone of the processor. A co-rotating twin-screw processor for preparing granules is also disclosed.

摘要: A continuous granulation system for obtaining conditioned granules is disclosed. The system comprises a processor configured to produce a continuous flow of granules at an outlet of the processor. The system also comprises a collection chamber positioned downstream from the processor and configured to collect the granules from the outlet. Further, the system comprises an air displacement device coupled to the collection chamber and configured to create a unidirectional flow of air at the outlet in a direction of the granules exiting the processor and away from the outlet. The unidirectional flow of air conditions the granules obtained in the collection chamber. A continuous granulation method and a continuous granule collection system for obtaining the conditioned granules is also disclosed.
