    摘要: An air quality system comprising at least one air cleaner unit in communication with an interior air space. In one embodiment, an air quality system for an aircraft comprises a first set of air cleaner units in communication with a lower plenum of the aircraft recirculation system and a second set of air cleaner units in communication with an upper plenum of the aircraft recirculation system. Each air cleaner unit comprises at least one adsorbent unit in combination with at least one photocatalytic oxidation unit. In one embodiment, an air cleaner unit comprises a relatively weak adsorbent material upstream from a photocatalytic oxidation unit, and a relatively strong adsorbent material downstream from the photocatalytic oxidation unit. Methods for removing a pollutant from an air stream and for making an air cleaner unit are also disclosed.

    摘要: An air cleaning system and method employs both particulate and gaseous contaminant removal from a flowing air stream to improve air quality in a selected environmental space. Particulate contaminants are removed by an appropriate filter. Gaseous contaminants such as VOCs, CO, and O3 are removed using a catalyst to oxidize such contaminants. The air stream is selectively heated to provide an adequate catalyst reaction temperature and the heat energy is then recovered by a heat exchanger. Various sensors are employed to monitor flow rate, air composition, temperature and pressure. A controller is programmable to control air quality for either minimizing contaminants or minimizing energy usage required to achieve a selected minimum air quality over a period of time.

    摘要: Apparatus, systems, and methods for the efficient decomposition of ozone in an air stream from an air intake of an aircraft. The apparatus includes a titania catalyst support on a substrate, and a catalyst composition on the titania. The catalyst composition comprises a silver-based component, comprising silver metal or silver oxide, and a palladium-based component comprising an oxide of palladium or palladium metal. The air stream may be from a dedicated ambient air compressor or from bleed air from a gas turbine engine. The invention allows for the effective removal of ozone from the air stream to provide cleansed air having an ozone level of 0.1 ppm or less over a range of operating temperatures from 100 to 500° F. and above during a service period of at least 20,000 hours or a time period of not less than 5 years.
