Abstract:
A method and a first device for determining a group owner during establishment of a local-wireless communication connection are provided. The method includes searching for a second device that supports the local-wireless communication connection; searching, if the second device is found, for services supportable by the second device; determining an intent value of the first device corresponding to a group owner authority with respect to a service to be connected among the found supportable services; transmitting, to the second device, a negotiation message including the determined intent value of the first device; receiving, from the second device, a negotiation message including an intent value of the second device; and determining, from among the first device and the second device, a device having the group owner authority by comparing the determined intent value of the first device with the intent value of the second device.
Abstract:
A system and method for updating a sleep identifier (SLPID) of a mobile station (MS) in a broadband wireless access (BWA) communication system having a sleep mode in which there is no transmission data and an awake mode in which there is transmission data. Upon recognizing a need to update an SLPID allocated to an MS in the sleep mode in the initial phase of the sleep mode, a base station (BS) reallocates a new SLPID to be allocated to the MS and transmits SLPID update information to the MS. Upon receiving the SLPID update information for its current SLPID during the sleep mode, the MS updates its current SLPID with the reallocated SLPID according to the received update information.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for performing a handover by a serving base station in a communication system. A handover request message is received from a mobile station. A first handover response message is transmitted to the mobile station. The first handover response message includes a list of at least one neighbor base station. A handover indication message including a value of a handover indication type field is received. The value is determined by the mobile station from among at least two values individually indicating at least one of a handover cancel and the handover rejection. The value representing the handover cancel indicates that the mobile station intends to cancel a handover procedure, and the value representing the handover rejection indicates that the mobile station intends to reject performing handover with any of the at least one neighbor base stations in the list.
Abstract:
A handover method of a mobile station in a wireless mobile communication system and a system therefore are provided. The mobile station transmits a handover indication message to a serving base station, receives a ranging response message that comprises authentication information required for the mobile station to authenticate a target base station, receives fast ranging resources and transmits a ranging response acknowledgement (ACK) message, which comprises authentication information required for the target base station to authenticate the mobile station, to the target base station after receiving the fast ranging resources. Accordingly, a handover break time is minimized.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for configuring a Relay-Frame Control Header (R-FCH) transmitted in an intermediary link area in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided. The method includes determining a modulation scheme of a Relay Station (RS) Downlink (DL)-MAP (or simply referred to as R-MAP) in consideration of a channel state with the RS while an initial network entry process is performed by the RS or while communicating with the RS in a Base Station (BS)-RS area where communication is made with RSs connected to the BS and transmitting a message including the determined modulation scheme to the RS. Accordingly, a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) on the R-MAP can be dynamically changed according to a channel state between an RS and a BS, thereby enabling effective use of resources.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for enabling a mobile station existing in a serving cell area to perform a handover procedure in a broadband mobile communication system including the mobile station, a serving base station providing a service to the mobile station, and one or more target base stations containing at least one target cell area overlapping with the serving cell area occupied by the serving base station. The method includes transmitting a handover request message from the mobile station to the serving base station when it is detected that a performance of a handover is necessary; and transmitting a handover indication message containing handover cancel information to the serving base station when the mobile station determines a cancel of the handover while the mobile station is being handed over to one or more target base stations by the serving base station.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for data retransmission in a multihop relay wireless communication system are provided. The retransmission method includes determining whether an error is detected in data received from an upper node; generating a message indicative of the data error; and sending the message to the upper node at a time that is not appointed with the upper node. Therefore, it is possible to reduce a retransmission delay time that occurs during synchronous retransmission.
Abstract:
A system for transmitting/receiving resource allocation information in a wireless mobile communication system is provided. A transmission apparatus allocates a data burst in a frame, the data burst including a two-dimensional region of a time domain and a frequency domain, and transmits resource allocation information on the allocated data burst. A reception apparatus receives the resource allocation information from the transmission apparatus, and detects a region of the frame where the data burst is allocated, using the received resource allocation information. The resource allocation information includes information on a start point and an end point of the data burst. The start point indicates a point which is spaced apart from an start point of the frame by a first offset value in the time domain, and is spaced apart from the start point of the frame by a second offset value in the frequency domain. The end point indicates a point which is spaced apart from the start point by a third offset value in the time domain, and is spaced apart from the start point by a fourth offset value in the frequency domain. The data burst is a two-dimensional rectangular region having a diagonal line segment connecting the start point to the end point.
Abstract:
A method and system for encoding connection payload information of a plurality of connection payloads in a Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol Data Unit (PDU) are provided. The method includes encoding connection payload information of a first connection payload from the plurality of connection payloads in a first header of the MAC PDU. The method also includes encoding connection payload information of each of a second set of connection payloads from the plurality of connection payloads in a second header of the MAC PDU, wherein the second set of connection payloads includes the plurality of connection payloads excluding the first connection payload. Further, the method sends the MAC PDU with encoded information. Thereafter, the method also includes a procedure to decode connection payload information of a plurality of connection payloads from a Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol Data Unit (PDU).
