    摘要: The present invention provides a method implemented in a control entity within a wireless communication system. The method includes selecting, at the control entity, a plurality of sectors in response to receiving requests for a multicast service from mobile units located within the plurality of sectors. The method also includes allocating, at the control entity, one or more interlace-multiplex pairs for providing the multicast service to the mobile units within the plurality of sectors. One or more of the interlace-multiplex pairs are allocated based on a priority list that ranks priorities of the plurality of interlace-multiplex pairs according to how many of the plurality of sectors provide the multicast service using the corresponding interlace-multiplex pair. The method also includes establishing a call flow over an air interface to the mobile units using the allocated interlace-multiplex pair(s).

    摘要: In a method for processor overload control in a wireless or other network, a processor occupancy level (“PO”) of a network processing unit is monitored and compared to a target PO. If the measured PO exceeds the target PO, one or more network load sources are controlled to reduce the data load of the processing unit, until the measured PO falls below a designated PO. “Load source” refers to a source of extant and/or potential data traffic through the processing unit, and/or a network control factor relating thereto, the control of which results in a reduction (or prevents an increase) in the data traffic handled by the processor. Examples include existing data flows, new calls, and BE flow window size. The load sources are controlled according to differentiated QOS levels, wherein non delay-critical data flows (e.g., BE flows) are reduced before delay-critical data flows, e.g., EF or AF flows.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for a wireless communication between a base station and at least one mobile station. The method includes receiving a request for a data rate from the mobile station on a reverse link channel to the base station. The method further includes, in response to the request, skipping a first slot after a delay for a portion of a slot on a forward link transmission before transmitting a data packet in a second slot. By beginning the forward link transmission at the start of the second slot, for example, a software module may cause the base station to skip a slot immediately after the half slot delay. This additional delay of one slot or a portion of the slot may expand radius of a cell for a wireless communication between the base station and the mobile station in a relatively high-speed wireless data network.

    摘要: A wireless data network distinguishes among different users connected to the network and associates each user with a service class that offers a selected level of service. The base station in the network queries the user for its unique user identification code and accesses a database linking user identification codes with their corresponding services classes. The network then controls the service level given to that user based on the service class associated with the user identification code. The user identification code can be sent to the network via existing fields in current standards.
