摘要： A method of help-information control for displaying help information on a display unit of an information processing system executing a plurality of application programs. A status management table for storing the executing status of application programs is provided as common to these programs. During execution of a given application program, the contents of the status information table are updated successively in accordance with the executing status. Whenever an operator makes a help request, the contents of the status management table in effect at that point in time are referenced. The table is searched for the help information corresponding to the request. When found and retrieved, the information is displayed. The search is performed using a program identifier, a message identifier, and a help message searching table that includes the position information containing the corresponding help data. Each application program is equipped with a control data part that makes it possible to reference help data of other application programs.

摘要： A power consumption control apparatus for an information processing apparatus having multi-tasking control which executes a plurality of information processing operations in parallel by time-divisionally switching a plurality of tasks in an arithmetic processing unit. The power consumption controlled apparatus detects an event where there are no information processing operations to be executed, sets the arithmetic processing unit to a power-saving mode in response to the event and immediately clears the power-saving mode set in the arithmetic processing unit in response to an interrupt signal from an input/output device. Alternatively, the power consumption control apparatus after detecting the event stops supply of a clock to the arithmetic processing unit or lowers a frequency of the clock in response to the event. Thereafter, the power consumption control apparatus immediately resumes supply of the clock to the arithmetic processing unit or raises the frequency of the clock in response to an interrupt signal from an input/output device.

The system also provides an operating system capable of multitask control, which controls a printing conditions set up program independently of the operation of the printing management program, whereby printing requests are enabled to be received in succession if such requests are made in the course of printing.

摘要： A documentation system for editing a document in which a plurality of document data of different forms coexist in a mixed fashion and which includes one or more pages each partitioned into a plurality of regions in accordance with difference edition processing procedures. The system includes a storage for storing the document data of the above-mentioned document structure, a display for displaying the document data as images, and a program executing unit for executing the programs to process the document data within the region being subjected to the edition. The edition processing programs are provided in correspondence with different edition processing procedures such that a given one of the edition processing programs processes the edition of the document data within one of the regions in the document image being displayed on the display unit. The edition processing program executing currently the edition processing for the document data within a first region responds to a command for the edition processing for a second region other than the first region by issuing an extra-region message. The documentation system further includes a unit for executing programs to make the display unit to display thereon the document data within a region, a unit for executing a manage program for controlling activation of the edition processing program executing unit and activation of the display program executing unit, and a message transfer unit for transferring messages between the edition processing program executing unit and the manage program executing unit. The extra-region indicating message is transferred to the manage program executing unit which responds thereto by activating the edition processing program for the document data in the second region.

The processing unit executes a print request program through which a print request provided by the operator is set together with necessary information in the print request block and the print request block is added to the print queue, a print execute program through which information stored in the print request blocks is fetched sequentially in the order of registration of the print request block in the print queue and the printer is controlled for printing operation on the basis of the information, a printing status operating program through which the contents of the print queue are displayed on the display unit, the print request block is removed from the print queue and the order of the print request blocks in the print queue is changed in conformity to instructions given by the operator, and a system management program through which those programs are activated for controlling the printing operation.
