Abstract:
On a recording medium, a monoscopic video specific section and a stereoscopic video specific section are continuous immediately after an extended data specific section. A shared section includes a continuous, interleaved arrangement having one each of main-view extents, sub-view extents, and extended extents. The stereoscopic video specific section includes a continuous, interleaved arrangement of extents having one each of the main-view extents and the sub-view extents. The monoscopic video specific section includes a continuous arrangement of a copy of the main-view extent arranged in the stereoscopic video specific section. The extended data specific section includes one of the extended extents that is to be used in combination with the copy of the main-view extent arranged in the monoscopic video specific section. The shared section is accessed when stereoscopic video images are played back, when monoscopic video images are played back, and when an extended stream is used. The stereoscopic video specific section is accessed during playback of the stereoscopic video images. The monoscopic video specific section is accessed during playback of the monoscopic video images. The extended data specific section and the monoscopic video specific section are accessed when the extended stream is read, immediately before or after a long jump.
Abstract:
On a recording medium, stereoscopic and monoscopic specific areas are located one after another next to a stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area is a contiguous area to be accessed both in stereoscopic video playback and monoscopic video playback. The stereoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in stereoscopic video playback. In both the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area and the stereoscopic specific area, extents of base-view and dependent-view stream files are arranged in an interleaved manner. The extents on the stereoscopic specific area are next in order after the extents on the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The monoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in monoscopic video playback. The monoscopic specific area has a copy of the entirety of the extents of the base-view stream file recorded on the stereoscopic specific area.
Abstract:
A device for displaying stereoscopic video images on a screen includes a receiving unit, signal processing unit, and display unit. The receiving unit receives stream data including left-view frames and right-view frames of stereoscopic images. The signal processing unit alternately extracts left-view frames and right-view frames from the stream data. Over one frame period of the stereoscopic video images, the signal processing transmits a pair of a left-view frame and a right-view frame when the control information indicates a 3D playback mode, and transmits only a left-view frame when the control information indicates a 2D playback mode. The display unit displays each frame transmitted from the signal processing unit for a predetermined time on the screen.
Abstract:
A recording medium includes a base-view stream and a dependent-view stream. The base-view stream is used for monoscopic video playback. The dependent-view stream is used for stereoscopic video playback in combination with the base-view stream. The recording medium further includes a first file and a second file. The first file refers to the base-view stream in monoscopic video playback, and the second file refers to the base-view stream in stereoscopic video playback.
Abstract:
A pair of main-view and sub-view video streams and a graphics stream are recorded on a BD-ROM disc. Metadata is provided in each GOP in the sub-view video stream. The metadata includes offset information. The offset information specifies offset control for a plurality of pictures constituting a GOP. Offset control is to provide a left offset and right offset for the horizontal coordinates in a graphics plane to generate a pair of graphics planes, and to combine them separately with main-view and sub-view video planes. The sub-view video stream is packetized and multiplexed in a transport stream. A header of each TS packet includes a TS priority flag. TS packets containing the metadata have a different value of TS priority flag from TS packets containing sub-view pictures.
Abstract:
A recording medium records a main-view stream, a sub-view stream, and management information. The management information includes a system rate for each stream, and each stream is divided into a plurality of data blocks that form a plurality of extent blocks. In each extent block, main-view data blocks and sub-view data blocks are in a continuous interleaved arrangement. A main-view data block and sub-view data block forming a single pair each have a maximum size that is determined by the following conditions: (i) the system rate of the sub-view stream, (ii) whether the pair is the top pair within the extent block, and (iii) whether a long jump region exists between the recording areas of two extent blocks that are to be read continuously.
Abstract:
Provided is a recording medium that enables seamless connection between preceding playitems which are stream data arranged prior to a position where a long jump occurs, such as a layer boundary, and succeeding playitems which are stream data arranged subsequent to the position where the long jump occurs. A block exclusively for 2D playback Ln2D is arranged succeeding a 3D extent block in which a depth map data block, a right-view data block, and a left-view data block are arranged in an interleaved manner. A 3D extent block including a block exclusively for 3D playback L3SS is arranged between the block exclusively for 2D playback and a long jump point LB. The block exclusively for 2D playback and the block exclusively for 3D playback are identical in content.

Abstract:
A recording medium according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a base-view stream and a dependent-view stream.
Abstract:
To aim to increase the use efficiency of a screen on which a subtitle is displayed together with a stereoscopic image. A video shift mode is set for each subtitle. When a stereoscopic image is played back, in accordance with the video shift mode of the subtitle, a video plane is shifted upward or downward to perform cropping processing of collecting black frames provided in the upper end and the lower end of the screen in either one of the upper end and the lower end so as to save a display region of the subtitle.
