Abstract: In exposing a diffraction grating pattern on a resist, the diffraction grating pattern is exposed via EB on an active region and the adjacent thereto only and the region which is not exposed via EB is exposed via Deep UV light so that the resist may be left on the active region and the adjacent thereto only after the exposed resist is developed according to the process of forming a diffraction grating for a distributed feedback semiconductor laser of the present invention. In addition, the resist-coated area can be gradually reduced from the resist existing area to the non-resist existing area and the average height of the substrate on which said diffraction grating is formed can be gradually changed on the diffraction grating forming region and non-diffraction grating forming region which results in preventing the crystallinity of a semiconductor layer on the substrate from being deteriorated. This enables formation of an excellent crystallinity semiconductor layer on the substrate on which the diffraction grating is locally formed.

A selective growth layer consisted of a p-InP clad layer, a SCH-strained MQW layer, and an n-InP clad layer sequentially in stripe form is formed on the buffer layer. Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has a base provided with an insulation enclosure and with a contact block outwardly of the enclosure. An electromagnet block is received within the enclosure and includes a coil, yokes, and an armature extending through the coil along the length of the enclosure. The armature is magnetically coupled to the coil and is movable relative to the yokes upon energization of the coil. A card is provided to connect the armature and a movable contact of the contact block for closing and opening the contact. A cover fitted on the base includes an insulation partition which extends between the enclosure and the contact block to accomplish a double-wall insulation between the electromagnet and the contact block. The card has a trunk for connection with the armature and a crosspiece for connection with the movable contact. The trunk extends into the enclosure through a front is opening thereof to fit around the end of the armature such that the entire length of the armature is insulated from the contact block by the enclosure and by the trunk. The crosspiece extends from the trunk longitudinal outwardly of the enclosure for connection with the movable contact outwardly of the insulation enclosure and partition. Further, the partition is contiguous along substantially the entire length of the enclosure. With these features, the relay can have an improved double-wall insulation between the electromagnet block and the contact block without leaving any insulation break along the length of the electromagnet block.

Abstract: An automatic power-driven screwdriver comprises a first cylindrical member having a hand grip portion, a guide portion, a tapered portion and a flanged portion between the tapered and hand grip portions. A second cylindrical member, which is a nose portion of the screwdriver, is mounted to telescope over the guide portion. A third cylindrical member encircles the guide portion and is slidably mounted at one end over the second cylindrical member. The third member is formed with a tapered contacting surface complementary to the surface of the tapered portion of the first member. An adjusting nut having an inwardly extending flange is mounted on the first member with the flange being in contact with the flanged portion and is threadably engaged with the third member so that the tapered contacting surfaces are brought into firm pressure contact which enables the first and second cylindrical members to be secured firmly together. By loosening the nut the nose portion of the apparatus can be rotated to a desired annular position with respect to the hand grip portion so that a screw feeder tube, connected to the nose portion, is not hindered by an obstacle which might be present in working areas.
