摘要： An image recording apparatus, such as a copier or a printer which is capable of connecting with another recording apparatus, includes: a memory for storing image data corresponding to plural document pages; a mode selector for selecting one of a master mode in which the image data, stored in the memory, are transferred to the other image recording apparatus, and a slave mode in which the image recording apparatus receives image data transmitted from the other image recording apparatus; and a transmission/receiving controller for controlling transmitting and receiving of the image data according to the selection of one of the master and the slave modes. In the apparatus, the image data transmitted from the other image recording apparatus are stored in the memory and the image corresponding to the image data stored in memory is recorded on a recording paper. The recording operation is independent from an operation of the other image recording apparatus when the slave mode is selected.

摘要： An image recording apparatus, such as a copying machine and a printer. The image recording apparatus includes: a reading section for scanning an image on a document and generating image signals corresponding to the image; a memory for storing the image signals; an image formation processing section for forming an image on a transfer sheet according to the image signals; a sheet feeding section for holding the transfer sheet and feeding the transfer sheet to the image formation processing section; a sheet discharging section for discharging the transfer sheet outside the image recording apparatus; and a setting section for selecting one of a one-side copying mode, when only an image on one-side of the document is formed on one-side of the transfer sheet, and a two-side copying mode, when images on both sides of the document are formed on respective sides of the transfer sheet. An overall control section controls the image recording apparatus so as to (i) form an image on the transfer sheet according to the image signals obtained from the reading section when one-side copying mode is selected; and (ii) form an image on the transfer sheet according to the image signals, which are once stored in the memory and then obtained from the memory, when a two-side copying mode is selected.

摘要： A copier for recording images of plural documents on recording sheets. The copier includes: a scanner for reading the images of the documents by photoelectrically converting the images so as to obtain image data corresponding to the images; a document feeder for sequentially feeding the documents to the scanner; a memory for storing the image data, including plural data compression/expansion circuits for compressing and expanding the image data, a selector for selecting one of the plural data compression/expansion circuits, and a memory member for storing the image data compressed by the selected one of the plural data compression/expansion circuits; a printer for forming images, corresponding to the selected image data from the memory, on the recording sheets; and a controller circuit for generating memory data overflow signals when a remaining area of the memory member is not more than a predetermined value. The controller also controls the document feeder, the scanner, and the memory in response to the memory data overflow signals so that the scanner stops reading the images, the memory changes a compression ratio of the image data to a higher ratio, the document feeder feeds back the documents to an original order, and reads the documents from a first one.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier for forming an image thereon; a sheet feeding device for feeding a recording sheet to the image carrier to transfer the image onto the recording sheet; a reversing device for reversing the recording sheet on one side of which the image has been transferred and then which has been fixed, at a conveyance path in the reversing device and for feeding the recording sheet onto the image carrier to form another image on a rear side of the recording sheet; a detection device provided between the conveyance path and the image carrier for optically detecting an amount of skew or an mount of shift of the recording sheet. The apparatus further includes controller for judging the amount of skew or the amount of shift to be malfunctional when the amount of skew or the amount of shift exceeds a predetermined value, and for modifying image forming conditions thereafter.

摘要： An image forming apparatus is equipped with a document reading device for reading image data on a document at a reading section; a memory to store the image data therein, the memory capable of storing the image data of plural pages of documents; and an image recording system for recording an image on a recording sheet based on the image data stored in the memory. A recording sheet reversing system receives the recording sheet from the image recording system, wherein the image is recorded on one side of the recording sheet, reverses the recording sheet, and refeeds the reversed recording sheet to the image recording system without stacking the recording sheet, whereby another image is recorded on the other side of the recording sheet by the image recording system. A controller controls the document reading device and the image recording system such that, when images are recorded on both sides of a recording sheet by the recording sheet reversing system, after image data of a predetermined number of pages of documents are read by the image recording system and are stored in the memory, the image recording system starts recording images based on the image data stored in the memory simultaneously as the document reading device successively reads other pages of documents.

The apparatus further includes a controller for controlling the image forming device and the recording sheet conveyor so that a cycle of an image forming operation corresponding to the maximum number of recording sheets is repeated until a remaining number of pages in the memory to be recorded is less than the maximum number of recording sheets.

摘要： A braking system for image forming apparatus returns an optical scan system in the image forming apparatus to a preselected home position after each scan of a document placed on a platen, within a predetermined period of time. Various factors including temperature, the number of copies of the document previously made, can change the operating performance of the braking system so that it does not return the optical scan system to the home position within the predetermined period. Detectors are provided to detect and sense the factors which will change the operating performance of the braking system. Brake control apparatus is responsive to the detectors and controls the braking system to return the optical scan system to its home position within the preselected period of time to thereby maintain the efficiency of the braking system even as the factors such as temperature, and number of copies previously made changes during operation of the image forming apparatus.
