    摘要: A first rotor (24; 124) and a second rotor (25; 125) are arranged in a coaxial and mutually rotatable relationship and are provided with a first driven gear (41; 141) and a second driven gear (42; 142), respectively. A drive shaft (31; 131) is also provided with a first drive gear (43; 143) and a second drive gear (44; 144) which are commonly connected to an output shaft of an electric motor (32; 132), and mesh with the first and second driven gears, respectively, at slightly different gear ratios. The first and second rotors are connected via a thread feed mechanism (36; 136) that converts a relative rotation between the first and second rotors into an axial linear movement between the first and second rotors that is used for changing a distance between a vehicle body part and a corresponding end of a suspension spring in a vehicle height adjusting system (9; 109). Owing to a differential rotation of a high gear ratio between the first and second rotors, a significant torque amplification is possible with a compact arrangement. The use of spur gears instead of a worm gear mechanism minimizes torque loss.

    摘要: An upper arm in a suspension system for a vehicle includes a substantially plate-like body portion which is bifurcated in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle body from a tip end side of the upper arm connected to a knuckle toward a base end side of the upper arm connected to a vehicle body frame, an outer flange extends downwardly from an outer edge of the body portion and then extends outwardly, and an inner flange extends downwardly from an inner edge of the body portion and then extends inwardly. The body portion and the outer and inner flanges are integrally formed from a single material blank through pressing. The vertical dimension of the inner flange closer to load application lines which connect a mounting hole for a ball joint for connecting the upper arm to a knuckle with mounting holes for a pair of rubber bush joints for connecting the upper arm to a vehicle body frame is larger than the vertical dimension of the outer flange farther from the load application lines. Thus, it is possible to increase the rigidity of the upper arm and reduce the weight thereof in comparison to known upper arms with similar bifurcated structures.

    摘要: An upper portion of a damper connected at its lower end to a lower arm of a suspension is accommodated within a side frame having a closed section. An upper spring seat, which is a mounting portion for the damper, is fixed to a lower surface of the side frame by a bolt. Thus, the support rigidity of the damper is enhanced, whereby the responsiveness of the damper to a load input from the lower arm is improved. Moreover, since the upper portion of the damper is accommodated within the side frame, an internal space in the side frame can be utilized for disposition of the damper. In addition, it is unnecessary to arrange the side frame and the damper side-by-side in a lateral direction of the vehicle body, and hence it is easy to ensure a space for disposition of the suspension.

The piston main body is an integrally formed component made of a ferromagnetic material, and includes a hollow cylindrical outer yoke that is in slidable contact with an inner peripheral surface of a cylinder, a columnar inner yoke having an outer peripheral surface opposing an inner peripheral surface of the outer yoke via first and second gaps, and a connection member connecting the outer yoke and the inner yoke with each other at an axially middle position of the piston and separating the first and second gaps from each other. The electromagnetic coil is fitted in the second gap of the piston main body.

A valve body of an expansion-side valve plate is opened by pressure of hydraulic oil flowing in from an expansion-side first communication oil passage, but at this time, the oil pressures on the side of the upper surface and on the side of the under surface of the valve body are substantially equal to each other within the expansion-side pressure accumulation chamber, owing partly to a flow of the hydraulic oil passing through flow rate adjustment holes. Therefore, even when the damper undergoes an expanding action at a high speed and the hydraulic oil flows in from the expansion-side first communication oil passage at a high inflow rate, the valve body of the expansion-side valve plate is less likely to open excessively.
