    摘要: A double monochrometer comprises a main monochrometer including a plane grating and an auxiliary monochrometer including a concave grating. The concave grating is disposed on the entrance or exit optical axis of the main monochrometer. Preferably, the angular dispersion of the concave grating is selected to be smaller than that of the plane grating. Sine bars for rotating the concave and plane gratings for wavelength scanning can be driven by means of a single feed screw mechanism even if the lengths of the sine bars are made different from each other in accordance with a difference in angular dispersion between the concave and plane gratings.

    摘要: The sealing apparatus of the present invention is a sample cuvette cap having a hole for inserting the nozzle of an auto-sampler therethrough. Located within the lumen of the hole is a small detent ball that can be positioned to block the lumen. The detent ball, which can be spring-operated or gravity-operated, blocks the fluid flow in the hole in its normal, closed position. When the auto-sampler nozzle hits the ball, the ball becomes deflected to one side into a recess, due to a difference in the nozzle axis relative to the center of the ball. By the dislocating the detent ball, the nozzle can be inserted into the cuvette smoothly as the air goes in and out through the space around the nozzle. This allows the pressure in the cuvette to be kept constant. After the nozzle is removed, the ball returns to its original position by gravity or by the force of a spring, resealing the cuvette. All of the parts for the sealing apparatus are solid parts which can be easily cleaned and reused. Because there is no non-recoverable distortion or damage to the sealing mechanism, it can be re-used after cleaning.

    摘要: In order to provide a spectrofluorometer which measures the emission polarization spectrum of a sample at high precision and with ease, a first spectrum signal I.sub.HV (.lambda..sub.EM) and a second spectrum signal I.sub.HH (.lambda..sub.EM) are formed by scanning the wavelength of an emission monochromator. A third spectrum signal I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) and a fourth spectrum signal I.sub.VV (.lambda..sub.EM) are also formed. In these terms, the first suffix H of the signals means that excitation light irradiated at the sample has a horizontal polarization direction while the first suffix V of the signals means that excitation light irradiated at the sample has a vertical polarization direction. The second suffix H of the signals means that fluorescence light detected by the detector has a horizontal polarization direction. The second suffix V of the signal means that fluorescence light detected by the detector has a vertical polarization direction. Using these signals the spectrofluorometer produces a signal G(.lambda..sub.EM) representative of the ratio between the signal I.sub.HV (.lambda..sub.EM) and the signal I.sub.HH (.lambda..sub.EM). Also, a correction signal G(.lambda..sub.EM).multidot.I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) is formed of the ratio signal G(.lambda..sub.EM) and the third spectrum signal I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM). Then, a signal I.sub.VV (.lambda..sub.EM)-G(.lambda..sub.EM).multidot.I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) representative of the difference between the correction signal G(.lambda..sub.EM).multidot.I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) and the fourth spectrum signal I.sub.VV (.lambda..sub.EM) is divided by a signal I.sub.VV (.lambda..sub.EM)+G(.lambda..sub.EM).multidot.I.sub.VH (.lambda..sub.EM) representative of the sum between them.
