摘要: A modular implantable medical device having first and second component containers and a flexible connector for connecting the first and second containers. The connector can include a pair of end members and a flexible portion extending therebetween to define an internal passage between the end members. Each of the end members can include a receptacle configured to communicate with the containers. The connector further includes a conduit extending between the pair of end members in the internal passage to provide a communication path between the first and second containers such that the first and second component containers are in communication.

The isolation connector has a generally annular exterior surface, a proximal end, and a distal end. The isolation connector includes a housing interface portion at the proximal end which is secured to a first end of the housing. The proximal end of the housing interface portion is constructed to be obverse to the first end of the housing and presents a perimeter of substantially similar size and shape to the perimeter of the first end of the housing. The isolation connector further includes a first insulator portion disposed adjacent to a distal end of the housing interface portion. The isolation connector may further include a feed-through channel constructed to traverse the proximal and distal ends of the isolation connector and is defined through the housing interface portion and the first insulator portion. In an optional embodiment, an electrical conductor is disposed within the feed-through channel to electrically coupled at least one component disposed within the housing to at least one component disposed beyond the insulator portion.

摘要: Methods, systems and tools for implanting long-term active therapeutic medical devices referred to as intravascular implantable devices (IID) within a patient's vasculature are disclosed. In one embodiment, the implantation techniques and instruments of the present invention are adapted for implanting an IID having only a single anchoring arrangement positioned proximate a distal portion of the device for anchoring within a vessel located superior to the heart, i.e. above the heart in a direction toward the head of a patient. Other embodiments of the invention include various methods and tools for delivering and implanting an IID, delivering and securing an anchor, and delivering and implanting one or more leads.

摘要: A method of treating autonomic imbalance in a patient includes energizing a first therapeutic element disposed in a superior vena cava of the patient to deliver therapy to a parasympathetic nerve fiber (e.g. vagus nerve), and energizing a second therapeutic element disposed within the superior vena cava to deliver therapy to a sympathetic cardiac nerve fiber. A neuromodulation system includes a parasympathetic therapy element adapted for positioning within a blood vessel, a sympathetic therapy element adapted for positioning within the blood vessel; and a stimulator to energize the parasympathetic therapy element to deliver parasympathetic therapy to a parasympathetic nerve fiber disposed external to the blood vessel and energize the sympathetic therapy element within the blood vessel to deliver sympathetic therapy to a sympathetic nerve fiber disposed external to the blood vessel. The therapy decreases the patient's heart rate and elevates or maintains the blood pressure of the patient.

摘要: Improved methods and apparatuses for positioning intravascular implantable device (IID) in a patient's vasculature utilize a device delivery system having an elongated flexible body. A handle can be operably connected to the proximal end and a grasper mechanism can be positioned at the distal end of the device delivery system. The grasper mechanism can be configured to releasably grasp the IID by closing a releasable honda around the IID and can be selectively controllable with the handle.
