摘要:
The musical tone generating apparatus converts a movement of a man into a musical tone. Such movement of the man includes a walking or running movement, a jumping movement, a rubbing movement and a beating movement, a turning movement and the like. More specifically, a tone pitch, a tone color, a tone volume or other parameters of the musical tone to be generated is controlled based on a value of a moving speed, a value of a jumping height or a value of frictional heat produced by the rubbing movement of player's hands.

A musical tone control apparatus controls a musical tone corresponding to a movement itself of an object and the like which is detected by a detector Such detector detects also a moving speed, a moving force, a moving angle or an intensity of given impulse of the object. In the case where the detector is mounted in the vicinity of a player's joint, the detector detects a revolving or bending angle of the player's joint. Hence, the musical tone can be controlled based on such angle of the player's joint. Thus, through this musical tone control apparatus, the player can generate a musical tone having, for example, a desirable tone pitch, a desirable volume and a desirable tone color based on the movement of the object or the player's joint.

A musical tone control apparatus comprises a main unit and at least one detector for detecting movement of player's finger, hand and the like. The main unit can be mounted on a player's wrist by use of a belt. When plural detectors are provided for detecting movements of player's fingers, tone color, tone pitch of musical tone or key-on timing is controlled based on combination of bent fingers. In order to detect bending of each finger, a joint switch is provided for each finger. In order to prevent deviation of key-on signals, a comparator is further used for comparing the predetermined threshold value with detection value corresponding to the bending of each finger so that the key-on signal is generated when the detection value exceeds the threshold value.

A pattern memory stores plural accompaniment patterns for each of plural accompaniment components, and each of the accompaniment components is composed of one or more musical instrument parts. An operator is provided for selecting a desired accompaniment pattern for each of the components, and the accompaniment patterns correspond, in accordance with a predetermined rule, to different possible manners in which the operator is actuated, so that a specific accompaniment pattern corresponding to a manner in which the operator is actually actuated. A new accompaniment pattern is registered into the pattern memory in accordance with the predetermined rule. Information indicative of the predetermined rule may be shown on a display. The pattern memory may store accompaniment patterns for each of plural different accompaniment styles, and specific accompaniment patterns may by shared between the accompaniment styles. There are proposed various variations to select a desired accompaniment pattern for each accompaniment component. Further, it is also possible to selectively read out a predetermined part of a specific accompaniment pattern and to set such a condition to prevent a specific accompaniment from being read out. Moreover, it is possible to read out a specific accompaniment pattern which satisfies a predetermined retrieval condition or which is close to a desired accompaniment pattern. It is also possible to read out plural accompaniment patterns in sequence for sequential reproductive performance.

The wear for controlling a musical tone consists of a wear worn by a player, a main body and at least one detector for detecting a certain movement of the player. The main body is mounted at a player's waist, and the detector is mounted at a player's joint by use of a mounting member such as a plane fastener. Hence, the mounting position of the detector can be freely adjusted. The main body and the detector are connected by use of wires which may be sewed in the wear. In addition, the detector may constitute a supporter which can be freely mounted at the player's joint. When the detector detects the movement of the player, such as a bending angle of the player's joint, a tone pitch, a tone volume or a tone color of the musical tone to be generated is controlled based on the detected movement of the player.

The musical tone control apparatus includes at least a sensor for detecting a movement of a player and a control circuit for controlling a tone element of a musical tone to be generated based on the detected movement of the player. The sensor may be equipped within a stick or mounted at predetermined portion of the player. As the movement of the player, the sensor can detect a swinging angle of a player's arm, an acceleration applied thereto or a distance between a player's hand and a predetermined object such as a wall. As the tone element of the musical tone, the control circuit controls a tone color, a tone pitch or a tone volume of the musical tone.

A normal automatic accompaniment performance is executed in accordance with an accompaniment pattern read out from a pattern memory. When a special performance is designated such as an intro, fill-in or ending performance, a modification suitable for the special performance is applied to a accompaniment pattern read out from the memory, so that the special performance is inserted in accordance with the thus-modified accompaniment pattern. At that time, the pattern may be modified by desired modifier data describing a manner of modifying the pattern. The pattern modification can be diversified by setting an individual modification condition to each musical instrument part of the accompaniment pattern in correspondence to the designated modifier. A memory is provided for storing a number of modifier data, and a further arrangement is provided for freely editing the modifier data stored in the memory. A still further arrangement is provided for dislaying the accompaniment pattern in the pre-modification state and the accompaniment pattern in the post-modification state for a visual comparison therebetween. There are also provided various methods to designated a desired modifier as well as various pattern modifying methods.

The present invention is directed to a system and method for providing a score window containing various types of execution icon layers onto which execution icons are attached and arranged in conformity with a progression of a musical tune on a screen of the display. In accordance with the preferred embodiment, each layer is controlled in response to various display commands. The system allows a user to select desired execution icons from an icon select palette that provides lists of execution icons which are registered in advance. Specifically, the user may select and “drag” an execution icon from the palette and place it at a position in correspondence with a particular point of progression of the music to be edited, causing the editing function corresponding to the execution icon to be effected at the point of progression of the musical piece. In accordance with the preferred embodiment, the execution icons are displayed by categories in accordance with a category display layer, which may be controlled to be displayed or not displayed in the editing screen.

Input waveform data are processed by Fast Fourier Transform or otherwise to separate a harmonic wave component from the waveform data while a non-harmonic wave component is separated by subtracting the harmonic wave component from the waveform data. Vector quantization is performed on the harmonic wave component by selecting and using one of prestored harmonic vectors as a representative vector for the harmonic wave component, and vector quantization is performed on the non-harmonic wave component, independently of the harmonic wave component, by selecting and using one of prestored non-harmonic vectors as a representative vector for the non-harmonic wave component. Then, using harmonic and non-harmonic vectors indicated by vector information of a waveform to be reproduced, waveforms of harmonic and non-harmonic wave components are generated separately and then combined to thereby reproduce/generate the waveform. The non-harmonic wave component is divided, on the basis of detected periodicity of the corresponding harmonic wave component, into a plurality of sections each having a length corresponding to an integral or fractional multiple of the period of the harmonic wave component.

A method of generating musical tones and a storage medium storing a program for executing the method are provided. Musical piece data is decomposed into phrases, the musical piece data being formed of pieces of performance data arranged in the order of performance. The pieces of performance data of the musical piece data are analyzed for each of the phrases obtained by the decomposing step. Tone color control data is prepared for each of the phrases according to results of the analyzing. The pieces of performance data of the musical piece data are reproduced by sequentially reading the pieces of performance data at timing at which the pieces of performance data are to be performed to the order of performance. Tone color characteristics of musical tones to be generated based on selected ones of the pieces of performance data which are reproduced by the reproducing step, are controlled according to the tone color control data prepared for ones of the phrases to which the selected ones of the pieces of performance data belong, respectively.
