    摘要: Lighting of a discharge lamp is controlled in a manner to reduce deterioration of the discharge lamp subjected to high temperature and extend the lifetime of the discharge lamp. A method for controlling lighting of the discharge lamp includes a first constant current control process (period T1, which corresponds to steps S3 and S4) in which constant current control is executed by supplying a first current to the discharge lamp, a second constant current control process (period T3, which corresponds to steps S7 and S8) in which constant current control is executed by supplying a second current greater than the first current to the discharge lamp after the first constant current control process, and a constant power control process (period T4) in which constant power control is executed after the second constant current control process.

    摘要: An output of a rectifying circuit (6), which rectifies commercial AC power, is supplied to an inverter (12) through a power factor correction circuit (8). The output of the inverter (12) is voltage-transformed in a transformer (16), rectified in a rectifying circuit (18) and is applied to a xenon lamp (2). A secondary winding (22s) of a transformer (22) of an igniter (20) is connected between the rectifying circuit (18) and the xenon lamp (2) in order to generate an arc in the xenon lamp (2). A pulse generator provides a pulse for a short time period to a primary winding (22p) of the transformer (22). An auxiliary power supply (26) supplies arc-sustaining current prepared based on the commercial AC power to the junction of the rectifying circuit (18) and the secondary winding (22s) of the transformer (22).

    摘要: When a maximum value of vibration intensity (maximum vibration intensity)(Vmax) acquired from a vibration sensor (33) in a low engine speed/high engine load (operating region (R)) is equal to or greater than a given threshold value (X), a spark timing of a spark plug (16) is shifted from a point set in a normal state on a retard side with respect to a compression top dead center, farther toward the retard side. Then, when a maximum vibration intensity (Vmax2) acquired after the spark timing retard is greater than a maximum vibration intensity (Vmax1) acquired before the spark timing retard, it is determined that preignition occurs. This technique makes it possible to reliably detect preignition using the vibration sensor, while distinguishing the preignition from knocking. An in-cylinder pressure sensor for detecting an in-cylinder pressure of an engine may be used to determine the presence or absence of the preignition, in the same manner.

    摘要: In an automotive door assembly including an outer panel and an inner panel, the inner panel is reinforced by a plate member attached to the outer surface of the inner panel so as to define a closed vertical cross section by a pair of mutually opposing concave surfaces thereof. The inner reinforcement member is relatively large in thickness but is allowed to relatively readily extend vertically by being relatively sharply bent at upper and lower portions thereof. Thus, according to the present invention, the automotive door demonstrates a relatively high rigidity against external side impacts, and can spread the impact energy over a large area, thereby involving a relatively small deformation. On the other hand, the door can readily deform itself against internal side impacts, and a relative large amount of impact energy can be absorbed again without involving a large lateral deformation because the collapsing and the vertical extension of the closed cross section formed by the inner panel and the associated inner reinforcement member allows a large amount of energy to be absorbed.
