    摘要： An electrical connector system includes a daughter card connector formed of a plurality of wafers. Each wafer is formed with cavities between the contacts of the signal conductors. The cavities are shaped to receive lossy inserts whereby crosstalk is reduced. The connector system may also or alternatively include a front housing formed with shield plates also to aid in reducing cross-talk. The front housing is adapted to mate between the wafers of the daughter card connector and a backplane connector of the electrical connector system. In an alternative embodiment, the front housing portion may include lossy conductive portions for cross-talk reduction.

In the preferred embodiment, the process includes the following steps: (a) providing a lead frame that has a plurality of signal conductors, where each of the signal conductors has a first contact end, a second contact end and an intermediate portion therebetween; (b) providing at least a segment of the intermediate portion of the signal conductors with solder wettable material; (c) providing an insulative housing around at least a portion of each of the plurality of signal conductors, the insulative housing providing openings through which an exposed area of each of the signal conductors is accessible, where the exposed area includes the segment of the intermediate portion with solder wettable material; (d) cutting and removing a portion of the exposed area of the signal conductors such that only a portion of the exposed area remains; and (e) attaching a passive circuit element to the remaining portion of the exposed area of each of the signal conductors.

    摘要： In one embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed an electrical connector connectable to a printed circuit board, the electrical connector having an insulative housing including side walls and a base. The electrical connector also includes signal conductors and ground conductors. Each of the signal conductors and ground conductors has a first contact end connectable to the printed circuit board, a second contact end, and an intermediate portion therebetween that is disposed in the base of the insulative housing. The signal conductors and the ground conductors are arranged in a plurality of rows, with each row having signal conductors and ground conductors. For each of the plurality of rows, there is a corresponding ground strip positioned adjacent thereto disposed in the base of the insulative housing. And the ground strip is electrically connected to the ground conductors of the row.
