    摘要： Illumination system comprising a radiation source and a luminescent material comprising a first phosphor capable of absorbing part of the light emitted by the radiation source and emitting light of a wavelength different from that of the absorbed light; wherein said first phosphor comprises europium(III) as an activator in a host lattice selected from the compounds of an anionic oxygen-containing species with a cationic metal species, comprising yttrium(III) and gadolinium(III). A light-emitting diode as a radiation source is especially contemplated. The invention also relates to a red to amber yellow emitting europium(III)-activated phosphor comprises europium(III) as an activator in a host lattice selected from the compounds of an anionic oxygen-containing species with a cationic metal species, comprising yttrium(III) and gadolinium(III). Furthermore the invention relates to the use of the phosphor for general illumination, traffic and signage lighting, automotive and for backlighting of liquid crystal displays.

    摘要： In the luminescent screen of a flourescent lamp an organic europium compound is incorporated for converting mercury radiation between 350 nm and 450 nm into red light. The organic europium compound is diluted in an organic polymer. When the fluorescent lamp is dimmed its colour point shifts into the red similar to incandescent lamps and not into the blue.

    摘要： A light-emitting device comprising a UV-diode with a primary emission of 300 nm.ltoreq..lambda..ltoreq.370 nm and a phosphor layer including a combination of a blue-emitting phosphor having an emission band, with 430 nm.ltoreq..lambda..ltoreq.490 nm, a green-emitting phosphor having an emission band, with 520 nm.ltoreq..lambda..ltoreq.570 nm and a red-emitting phosphor having an emission band, with 590 nm.ltoreq..lambda..ltoreq.630 nm, emits high-quality white light. The color-rendering index CRI is approximately 90 at a color temperature of 4000 K. The color rendition depends only on the composition of the three phosphors, not on the relation between converted and non-converted light, and hence can be readily controlled and regulated.
