摘要: A portable article holding device for catching articles which may fall from a user's hands towards the floor when a user is sitting in a chair, such as a high chair. The device has an open top, and includes a pair of front receptacles configured for operably expanding and contracting into one another, and a pair of arm receptacles, each of which can be operably expanded and contracted into an associated front receptacle. When thus configured, the device can adjustably deploy to create a full receptacle perimeter around users having variable body shapes and sizes. In an example embodiment, the device further includes a pair of arm receptacle subsets which expand and contract to further vary the width of each arm receptacle. When in a retracted position, the device can further include a selectively removable cover sized to close the open top of the device.

摘要: A system and related method for separating floating and nonfloating particulate and entrained, suspended, and/or dissolved contaminants from a fluid. The system includes a tank with a lower chamber spaced from an outlet or upper chamber by a confinement deck. The deck includes one or more sockets for receiving one or more filter units for fluid treatment. In addition, the lower chamber of the tank acts as a pretreatment sump to remove floating and nonfloating particulates, thereby reducing the load on the filter units. The filter units are configured for radial and/or upward flow of the fluid from the lower chamber. The filter units may include one or more filter media through which the fluid pass prior to exiting the tank. The filter units include a removable screening retainer for retaining the filter media and/or to screen relatively large contaminants. The filter unit may be removed for ease of tank maintenance and replacement of filter media. The system allows a method of contaminated fluid treatment under varying flow conditions by directing the fluid radially and/or upwardly through the retainer. Establishing both types of flow through the filter unit improves filtering and extends filter life without compromising desired flow through rates.

摘要: The invention relates to a novel display system for a drug delivery device that reduces power consumption and permits the user of the device to see messages when the device is not in a powered state or when the device has encountered an error condition. By using a bistable display, the medical device is able to maintain messages that can been seen by the user even when the device's power supply is exhausted or when the device has encountered an error that interrupts its normal operation. The use of such a display also improves the battery life by eliminating the need to provide power to the display screen when it is not being updated.

摘要: This invention is an energy generating device adaptable to a “means of rotation” which captures human energy by converting it to usable energy. This process occurs through the conversion of energy from the body to a “means of rotation” to an alternator to a battery. Then, the battery's output energy, which is in the form of direct current (DC), may be sent either to a DC appliance or through an inverter that transforms it into alternating current (AC), which is used by most modern electronics and appliances. This invention overcomes five key elements: an alternator's “turn on speed” (minimum revolutions per minute required for the alternator to begin producing its specified output voltage), torsion force required by the alternator at the “turn on speed”, coefficient of friction required, tension requirements and specific voltage regulation/generation. Energy measuring device(s) may be associated with the energy generating device to measure the voltage output and the amperage output. Input device(s) may be associated with the energy measuring device and the energy generating device to associate the revolutions per minute (RPM) with the predicted output of the alternator, showing the user the performance curve of RPM versus the power being generated.

摘要: A rotary microwave antenna system suitable for satellite or cellular microwave radio telecommunications features an integrated, low-profile, rotary microwave joint, slip ring and antenna assembly. The rotary antenna system includes a stator (i.e., stationary portion), for attachment to a mobile platform (e.g., an automobile or other vehicle), having a rotary joint coaxial microwave coupler for electrically coupling a microwave transmission line from a microwave telecommunications radio system to a microwave antenna element of an microwave antenna rotatable about an axis relative to the mobile platform. The rotary antenna system also includes a rotor (i.e., rotary portion) for attachment to the microwave antenna. The rotor includes a slip ring circuit (or brushes) for coupling power and low frequency electrical signals to the microwave antenna through contacting brushes (or slip ring) attached to the stator, rotates relative to the stator, and is concentric with the axis of rotation of the microwave antenna. The stator includes a disk having a peripheral edge around its circumference, and the rotor includes an annular ring having an inner edge around a central opening and a peripheral edge around its circumference. The inner edge of the rotor is adjacent to, concentric with, and rotatably coupled to the peripheral edge of the central disk by means of an assembly of ball bearings placed between the two adjacent edges.
